Default Castle to town conversion question

I remember reading somewhere that trade lanes available to a region are hard coded. Do provinces that start out as castles have access to less trade, even if converted to towns, than other provinces that start out as towns?

Also, is there some listing somewhere that shows how much trade is available to each province, like a spread sheet or some such?

If you change the castle to a city type, then you will receive all the benefits as if it was always a city type.

Sorry there isn't a spreadsheet. In general, you should look at the special resources available. Each resources has a specific worth. Mineable resources give you mines, settlements with ports give you a huge boost to trade.

    Thanks.

The resource question came from something done in either RTR or EB mod, cant remember which for RTW.

There were lots of new resources added and some resources were unique to particular provs and only certain units could be built there. This had mostly to do with timber and larger size ships iirc.

I was just wondering if something similar had been done here.

And I've always wondered if the provs that have default castles on them were lesser producers in trade anyway so might as well plunk a castle on it.

Good to know that conversion can lead to just as prosperous a city, though. Helps muchly in the deep thoughty parts of the game strategery.
