Why is map all messed up?

I just turned on the computer a minute ago, and ran the game, and the mini map looked all black (no terrain color, no border lines)... This has never happened before. What should I do?

(I had to cut off part of the campaign map because the image is too big.)

my guesses are, either your computer is not good enough for the game?? (no nvm, scratch that ) or something is conflicting, like do you have any other mod installed?

Nope. SS is the only mod installed. The game runs PERFECTLY with every graphics setting turned to maximum for the past month, and it just decided to turn on me today all of a sudden. Also, I tried to start a new campaign and see what the map's like, and when I clicked on "Grand Campaign," the game says "Please select an item from the list," but doesn't bring me to the faction selection screen. Custom battle and options work fine, intro movies work fine.

What have you done? That's really weird!

Actually I really doubt it, but maybe your map .tga files become corrupted?!
Just to be sure I have uploaded the .tga files here:
http://files.filefront.com/baserar/;.../fileinfo.html
Try to replace all your files in the Stainless_Steel/data/world/maps/base folder with these files.

Didn't work... I tried reinstalling, and now it's working.

It was just a corrupted file most likely. By reinstalling you have you have removed the corrupted files.

Reinstalling the game does the job nicely.

Indeed it is, but nothing is free of charge in this world.

Unless of course, you remove the files manually.

Yes, I admit this very annoying, but I think it wasn't caused directly by my mod. I hope you made a backup of your save-games!

I don't want to make wrong assumptions, but just a note:
Maybe you could check your hard disc for "corrupted sectors". Once I had a similar problem that I got graphics errors in some games, followed by occasionally corrupted files. I sent back my hard disc and got a new one with the doubled size...

My computer gets completely scanned every 12 hours for spyware/viruses/hardware failures/misc issues. I just reinstalled the whole game and it's working fine now.
