Default Reconquista in LTC 2.3 - recommendations?

+IF+ I can't salvage my current Byzantine campaign (see post titled "Giving up...", I'd like to start planning for a new campaign to learn more about the Spanish Reconquista.

Does anyone have any recommendations for making this the best game experience under 1.2/LTC 2.3? Should I play at M/H as recommended elsewhere so there isn't the auto-deterioration issue in diplomacy? Any other mods or tweaks to LTC 2.3 to ensure a challenging but still fun game?

Also, one of the things I'm glad to see about Kingdoms is that they're adding more individual character to each mini-campaign. Is there anything available right now (mods, etc) that could add to the particular historical flavor of the Reconquista campaign?

Again, I'd love to salvage the Byzantine campaign, but I have some time off over the next few days, and I want to think about a fresh start if necessary.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Try being smart when it comes to trade agreements with your closest neighbours. I normally dont give trade agreements to the empires around me. It looks like it is bigger chance to get backstabbed if you have agreements with your neighbours.

Also keep huge armies in your border castles/cities. This normally make the AI think twice in most cases.

If you have lots of gold. Try giving gold to the ones you want as friends on a regular basis.

If you want to be allied to someone. Do it. Then give them military access for free. Then ask them for military access + a few thousand gold. This seems to be the best way to keep an alliance.

I am not a very good M2TW player but these are my best tips anyway. They work for me. Good luck.

Naturally I will reccommend my addon for LTC, link is in my sig. It makes the game more challenging, and more fun. Also, on the second page of that thread I posted the descr_faction_standing.txt that will be in v1.3 of the addon, that removes the deteriorating relations. So you can play on VH/VH with that, should be good diplomacy and a challenge at the same time.

    OK, thanks guys.

I was going to ask about mods specific to the Reconquista era, but looks like Lusted's working on it for the next LTC release. Fantastic!

Hi Lusted, reconquista campaign would be awesome I'm playing Spain now and having fun uniting Iberia. Only few games (like AoE2, haven't seen any reconquista mods for M2TW) cover this reconquista history period (~1050-1492) and it would be awesome to have a mini campaign (since Kingdoms won't include it) just like 100yrs war

Possible factions could be Leon, Castile, Aragon/Catalonia, Navare, Portugal and of course Almoravids/Almohads caliphate, maybe French to the north additionally

There's quite a good Osprey's book I've read on reconquista, men at arms 200 series if I'm not mistaken

    Here's some great unit pics:

Thx Lusted for your modding, good luck with your new CA job

Hm, not sure why you wont add any factions or units. It would add two major things: Gameplay and realism. Just a suggestion though!

Because i don't have the time to add in new factions, so no new factions. It's quite simple.

I am going to be making a Reconquista mod for myself. I might release it, but only if its better than Lusted's. I'll probably add a few factions (5 or so) There's no point in having two.
