    Icon10 Power to the king

Not sure if this is moddable, but it would be great to see wide ranging effects granted to kings. I mean they are Absolute Monarchs in MTW2.

    For example,
A king could grant religous conversion to the entire country,
or perhaps they could grant a population bonus to all settlements,
or maybe make building/recruiting cheaper in all settlements.

This may not be moddable, and I'm sure would throw off balancing, but it would be cool to have kings give traits that throw the whole country one way or the other, I mean they are the bloody king.

The quickest route may not always be the most fun.

But how would that be any different then what we have now? Maybe a pop and construction bonus in the settlement they are in but over the entire empire you wouldn't see the effects.

As for changing the entire populous to a different religion isn't possible (so I've heard anyways)

Would be kinda cool if we got faction specific religious lines like your french king might pick up the muslim trait or something that makes the nobles unhappy.. but it could get complicated figuring out how the papacy could react dunno if it would be possible to force that leader to be excommunicated. Either way the religiously odd lines and piety rating sorta accomplishes this already.

I dont think this happened in real life at all because this wasn't really an era of absolute monarchs who had the power to convert an entire country.. to make it accurate you would need to do alot of stuff to throw half the nobles into open rebellion and the games ability to make people rebel isn't that good.

Neat ideas, but it can't really be done. At least I don't see how. The only things that can have faction wide changes like that, are buildings.

hm, then this buildings could be build if the king "supports" them and if he dies they are destroyed. maybe they are invisible or they are placed in a unreachable town at the end of the world like in europa barbarorum. just a thought.

Unfortunately MTW2 can't destroy buildings. That would be an extremely useful function.

k, but you could let the program build an anti-building which has the same effects like the first one, but negative...

edit: just thought on how the guilds work. there must be either a way to destroy a building or to change its stats. if you have a guild and it is upgraded, there aren't two guilds in that city, too! that leads me to the above thoughts. changing a buildings stats would also be much more elegant than building an "anti"-building, but if there's no way around, what i can hardly believe, one should keep this workaround in mind...

Also another huge limitation. No negative effects. Sigh.

Any building that is part of a tree will remove the previous one. But once you go up the tree, you can't go back down.

Besides, there just isn't any way to even create buildings anymore. They took that out since RTW.

You also can't change building stats on the fly.

MTW2 is in many ways harder to mod than RTW.

Hehe, good ideas but you're hitting the limitations of the engine.

too bad, it would be real game changer if kings had national affects
