Russia is testing new inter-continental missiles capable of carrying many warheads.
Russia has many thousands of warheads.

Mr Putin said it was a "response to maintain the strategic balance in the world", in what he called a "new round of the arms race".
He added that Russia would continue to improve its resources.
Russia tested a new intercontinental ballistic missile, which can be armed with up to 10 warheads, on Tuesday.

Mr Putin defended Russia's actions, insisting they were not the "initiators of this new round of the arms race".

10 in one go!? Jesus, I bet that's messy. I doubt Russia's going to shoot them at anybody, they already have a stranglehold over Europe because they control the gas supply to most of it. Iran is already on the US's list for targets to vaporise, so is NK, they'll probably get nuked anyway.

Its just a upgrade to their nuclear deterrent and posturing because of our recent steps in eastern Europe regarding the missile shield.

No real significance? Maybe not in the next years, but if the current development continues I'm afraid we'll see another arms race between the US and Russia. Putin and those soviet-era generals certainly are doing what they can to wave their vodka-filled dicks around the world.

It is normal - everyone knows that we have a nuclear arsenal, and that RS-24 is only a one upgrade, nothing more. So, where is a problemm? But i agree, Putin chose exactly this time to introduce that ICBM to the world not by accasion. I think he is right. It will helpfull to 'greatest strategos' to think about all sides of deployment of that AMS and single sided breaking agreements with us.
Modern AMS is nothing to our modern missiles, interceptors capable to hit only targets with beacons , but what will be in a future? It is a guarantee of our safety, we are, so bad bad Russians, don't want bringind "democrasy" of Iraq type. Thank you, but no.
BTW, RS-24 is incapable to open fire on Europe. But if AMS will be deployed we will produce missiles of medim radius. One division will be more than enough. They are very cheap in comparison with ICBM.
We have a right to guarantie an our safety. We will safe the balance.

You have forgot that types and powers of that warheads are absolutly different. So it is not correct to say - '12 more stronger than 10'

No, it is not against MIRV. All our multi warhead missiles (this one will not be an exeption, we already have it) have only one warhead, but capable to arm more, if necessary.

Only complite idiot may began a nuclear war, and modern examples indicates, that idiot leaders have a smart advisors. There is no something specisl in that exercise launch.

If the US develops the means to shoot down nuclear missiles Russia's nuclear deterrent will be neutered. The strategic position will be reset all the way back to 1945-1950 status.

For the first time in decades all-out war in Europe will be possible once again.

Why would Russia want new (=more expensive) weapons?
I think they are in enough economic problems as it stands.

My theory: The Russians want to trick America into spending more on their missile shield to deal with these new rockets which costs Russia just a fraction of what it's going to cost America.
Then the Russians will upgrade again and America has to spend end more.
End result: Complete economic collapse in USA.
Basically, Russia wants to get even for the collapse of the USSR. (that's my theory at least).
