If one I was hit by a sudden and sustained bout of madness and went and brought my own PC rather then building it, I go and buy a computer from these guys.

Commodore Gaming. I miss my Amiga.

I miss my Amiga 500 as well freddie. But i don't really feel confident building my own PC. Know any other decent places to look for a cheapish system?

You need not my good sir. I bought all my components for £550 and attempted to install them myself. Of course, I completely screwed it up and got angry until I swallowed my pride and sent it to my local computer shop. They installed everything and optimised it when I told them it was for gaming. Cost £90*. I recommend doing that if, like me, your expertise is lacking.

*Inc. new floppy and case (£50)

Dual core 6600, 2gb 6400 RAM, P5B deluxe motherboard, 8800GTS graphics card. All ordered online from Micro-direct.co.uk. Runs everything like a dream.
I recommend everything except perhaps the motherboard- cheaper but no less effective ones are available. Also in retrospect a new harddrive I would have splashed out on but I was too lazy to reinstall stuff.

I completely agree with Markas, just take the components to a local shop.

Ive built a number of PCs and my last I had built at a shop for $30. They charged $30 per hour and it only took them 1 hour as I chose to install all the software and drivers.

I also bought some parts from them since their prices were so low, only $5-10 more than a internet vendor on average and best of all they guaranteed the parts for 90 days, as well as the build. Meaning if they screwed up somehow, they would make it right.

A shop like that is few and far between though. Most shops charge much more than a internet vendor and Ive never heard of any other shop guaranteeing what you buy from them for 90 days, 30 at the most usually. Most shops also charge more than $30 per hour and I'm sure some of them pad their hours too.
