What the current best DVD standar??

I was thinking about buying myself a console to get dvd (+ a console might be funny to play with).
I`m thinking about buying myself a PS3 to mostly due to get blueray however is this the best dvd standard at the market? in Norway atm the blueray dvd player cost slightly less (around 20% less).

What should I do?

Wait until it is figured out which one is going to be the standard.
BlueRay can hold more Data, but the way it stores the data is the old method.
HD-DVD dose not hold as much data, but the way it stores the data is the newest method.
So basically they hold almost the same amount of info, but the BlueRay in my opinion is better. That being said BetaMax was better than VHS, but VHS won the battle, so as I said above might want to wait a while.

I think there is a company out there that is going to put out a BD/HD-DVD player that will play both.
