Islam states that god has some properties. However, rules of Islam are contradicting to these.
Very similar with other religions.
You can weight arguments about some acting being good or bad, that it is written somewhere, it is not an argument and has nothing to do with good acting or bad acting.
Doing something out of fear, or not doing something out of fear is pretty low. Even lower is doing something because it is written somewhere or because somebody said that - bellow the survival instinct.

Muslim literalists consider the "re-creation" both spiritual and physical, although not neccessarily under the same rules regarding present physical existence. I myself like to take escathology in a more allegorical, "spiritual" or "conscience" way.

In Islam's view, as far as I know, Fire (Hell) and Garden (Paradise) do not exist in these times. Instead, in the Last Day, men will be re-created and face judgement for their actions in life, in which is traditionally called "the Balance" of your actions. It will be in that time when men will be destined to the Garden or the Fire. There is an open door regarding eternity or not of punishment in the Fire, in some Qur'anic verses being added "with the exception of God's will". True repentance of past misdeeds ends punishment in the Fire. This is the opinion of one of the foremost scholars of Islam ever, Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali, in his well known book "the precious pearl", in which salvation of men is considered possible even after being in the Fire. A very rare occurence, though.
