    Default attacking rome

i dont yet have the mod working but im being optomistic and i was wondering from looking at the screnies whats the best way to attack rome because it looks quite well defended even without a full garrison inside.

In my campaign, once I destroy all the senate's armies, I intend to put all my legions surrounding it, and besiege it until they sally out. It would be too laggy to fight the battle, lol.

What i used to do is destroy the Senate Navy and have an army in a boat just offshore.
Every turn the AI will move its armies, eventually you will be able to attack the city with none or minimal senate re-enforcements.
You must have seige weapons, and about 2 or 3 or them, you will lose casualities breaking the defences down, but inside should be fine.
Gets rid of 3000+ Senate men without fighting them.

thats what i mean because ill try and play by house rules as much as possible and when a first cohort is destroyed do you actualy get a message saying you've lost/retrieved the eagle when you capture the nearest town.

When you lose a first cohort, I'm pretty sure the eagle is taken to the nearest enemy settlement, and the house rule is once you lose that eagle, you can't recruit that legion anymore until you retrieve it But, you won't have to worry about that for a LONG time, what with the 4tpy script and all It'll be a long time until you gain enough popular support to become Emperor, so you got a long game ahead of you

Best strategy I can think of (other than blitzing, as its against house rules) would be to try to single out each army and surround it with two legions, so that when you attack, your reinforcements come at the enemy from behind and surrounds them

the who Idea is challenge and fun, without the challenge of house rules whats the fun. Afterall its how I made the mod for my style of house rules play.

Faction Leader unfortunately. But you can make him emperor by keeping him in Rome.

Hmmmm. You shouldnt be fighting the senate with premarius units unless your blitzing, not playing by house rules, and not using the script. If any of those are the case you really arent playing SPQR correctly and you get what you deserve. lol
