    Default Editing Dirt Roads Textures...

    Hi,

I am trying to edit dirt roads textures to be less dark and bit less noticeble on the campaign map.

I've copied and pasted "terrain" folder into my mods data folder. However, when I made test edits to any of the texture files for the dirt roads I can notice any changes to the campaign map whe I load up.

I know for a fact that my terrains folder in my mod folder is being read since when I make changes to the aerial map texture for ground types and load up it shows up on the campaign map.

So what do you think I'm doing wrong? Are there other files that I need to be editing that I've missed? Thanks.

Any help will be credited to Broken Crescent.

    MIRAGE

Do you mean you haven't unpacked the files yet ? If no, just add this in your cfg file:

    [io]
    file_first = true
10 to 1 you already know this

Correct, I've experimenced with water a bit that way (good advantage IMO)

No, only in the terrain (aerial map) folder AFAIK.

If this could be of use, it's not necessary for a modder - we're glad if and when we can help

Let's resurrect this thread if I may:

There doesn't seem to be a way to modify road textures. I modified all of the road textures by setting them to white (and yes file_first is on, etc etc), but they retain their texture while in the game.

Anyone have success editing road textures?

I assume you used these files: ...\data\terrain\aerial_map\roads\*.* (the ones in the sub folders)

Did you use the DDS format or the TGA?

Edit: just tried it - check the attachments

Well that's kind of frustrating isn't it? In most other things it helps to have DDS and sometimes maybe even only DDS will be read; but here it has to be in TGA and TGA only?

    Thanks Gig

Ishan, nope I put that on the backburner and moved on to more pressing issues
