Default Morale. The enemy never retreats

hm. since i've used SS, i've never seen anyone's morale go below steady. I also have yet to see a single group of units route.

    has anyone else had this?

They flee often enough for me (Very Hard Battle Difficulty)

    i always have enemys flee.
had a battle against the turks when i was attacking a city with 382 men, 3 armies of reinforcements for them with 906, 1396, 1706 men and i won. they sallied out to me, i slaughtered them and followed the routers in the city, took the walls and let them come, i waited at the gates fought them there and loads of them ran away from me.
    took the battle results screen.

from the amount of prisoners i captured you can see many routed.
lol sorry for the huge picture

it is very easy to get a heroic victory if you are defending a settlement. Especially if you only defend the central plaza (since the enemy isn't smart enough to coordinate his attack from all directions)

As for routing... A 4 unit heavy cav charge into the back of an enemy army sends 2/3 routing...

Yep. I think KK has the balance just right. The battles last longer and I have time to zoom in on some animations before they break. Go play vanilla if you want insta-routs.

uh, they're still can be considered insta-routs at least in medium battle difficulty that I play.

argh. these changes dont apply to my campaign, only to custom battles ect. is there a way to force this change on my campaign without restarting? maybe a console command?

I don't know about you but I'm having no problem here. Perhaps you should either reinstall or change the way you play. I rely on basically routing the entire enemy army after I've killed about half of them and taking the rest prisoner.

I prefer battles that last without much routing, Mongols were the only faction that never retreated and they were so hard to beat back. it annoys me when there army just routs at the first charge its no fun.
been good on stainless steel because its not that often an army flees except the turks and sicily so good long battles.

I never have a problem routing enemies. Just have Dismounted Feudal Knights and Spearmen hold the line while Cavalry and swords/axemen hit the flanks.

I have no problem routing the enemy, especially when I pin them in the front and charge my cavalry into their flanks/rear. 1v1 head on battles are another story, they'll fight to the last 5-10 men.

i gathered men up from scattered armies and joined them up so i could wipe the turks out thats all. most the experience those men have i got in the battle and good men dont really make that much difference in medieval 2. i had a unit of templar guard absolutely annihalated from a single unit of pavise crossbowmen in MELEE. my templar guard had 6 experience and the pavise only lost 10 men.
but yes the only reason i have only good men is bacuse i wanted the turks gone because i was being battered by the mongols, turks, egypt and byz so really wanted them gone. considering i was being attacked at nearly all settlements i had at the time i dont think its that bad.

i knew just how big the battle was gonna be aswell. id add pictures of how i was being attacked but i deleted them this morning. 3 of those armies were laying siege to me and i knew they would come attack me so gathered a few good men and hoped for the best.

i needed the spearmen in my cities to defend against the mongs so took the knights from adana and a small army and attacked.

oh, lol, i understand, i was just curious. Btw, the diplomats are there for a reason, don't bother with mongols cause they are not trustworthy ( and that's a understatement!!) . Go to byz and turks and negotiate, you might lose some money.. but compare that to complete annilation, , think ceasing fire then is a pretty good idea
