    Default Legionaries skins

I love the Imperial legionaries skin , far better than the RTW skin, the shoulderguards and helmets in the vanilla were almost pathetic. But still I'm quite sure an ordenary legionaries would never have worn greaves, only centurions would have worn them I think. (I know this doesn't really matter)

Hello John66. I remember reading that they started wearing greaves and reinforcing bars on their helmets when facing the Dacians and their nasty falxes. But i guess there can't be late Imperial Legionaries.

You could have an optional thing, where you can manually install the later skin when your campaign reaches a certain year.

Personally Its hard to keep RTW historical, I let EB and RTR try that. lol I find a good balance. Example is Republican legions used a different shield than Augustian Legions, should I make 2 republican era units? I think not. lol

Same with Imperial units, The CLASSIC look we seen so much on TV, Movies and books is the One I have in SPQR. I added the Greaves to make them MORE armoured, since by late in the game your conquering far and wide. I kinda look at RTW as an ALTERNATE history of Rome, What if you invaded Greece alone and not Carthage what difference in development would Rome have done?

Example In the game you have Pila, yet the Romans conquered Spain first before getting the Pilum. lol Should I make another unit with No pila and one with? See how being too historical can get in the way. Then if you count all the eithnic uniques used and their weird look, the game would feel more like Merc total war and not ROME total war. ;-)

Thats the one thing I NEVER cared for the reaslism mods is that it just doesnt feel like Rome total war. Infact MOST working on those projects like other factions more than Rome. So rome is not the focus of their mods. Personally I think all the other factions are trash (their to die) and Rome is the Focal point, therefore why my mod is called SPQR. ;-)

The Legionaries looked funny with Bare legs with all that ARMOUR, so I thought I nice touch would be greaves since they were used and make them look more protected. After all the Greeks were using them for Centuries before Rome its not NEW technology. lol

this could be possible in MTW2 if it becomes moddable, since upgrading their armor in the campaign map shows in the units on the battle map.

Yes Koning, I was thinking that too, then you could just build an armour upgrade building and the republican legionaries would become Imperial legionaries, instead of having to dispand the republican ones to make the Imperial
