Just saw this last night, was a very good movie I thought, not only did it tell a good story but in the process showed everything that is wrong in Africa and how the rest of the world just doesn't care. Also, I thought it was funny hearing Leonardo Dicaprio's accent, although I am sure he spent months working on that. Anyone else see this?

I haven't seen the film yet but I have seen the History Channel programme that highlighted the issue of the illegal diamond trade in Africa. It is one of the best specials I have seen on the History Channel and if you liked this film I recommend you watch this on Youtube. Here is a link to the first part of ten. As it says at the start viewer discretion must be used as there are some horrific scenes.

I think it is working now (does for me). It is around two hours long but if you have time or not the first part is worth watching just to see the gist of the programme and perhaps you all might like to see it again another day.

Don't forget Jackass 2, that one was funnier than any movie that came out this year. One that came out last year that I liked was Flushed Away, even though it was a kiddie movie I really liked it.

These Africa movies are the new fad. What I like about them, however, is that they are brutally realistic about their depiction of Africa. Cannibalism, superstition, senseless barbarism - all without whitey.
The common culture of a tribe is a sign of its inner cohesion. But tribes are vanishing from the modern world, as are all forms of traditional society. Customs, practices, festivals, rituals and beliefs have acquired a flut and half-hearted quality which reflects our nomadic and rootless existence, predicated as we are on the global air-waves.

Yes i remember this movie, when i brought my girlfriend to see it, it took only 1/4 of the movie to make her cry. It made me kinda laugh because other girls who were watching that movie were crying too

With his appearance in "The Departed" and "Blood Diamond", Leo diCaprio is really starting to show that he is a good (dare I say great) actor. Both were awesome movies, though I like The Departed more.

he was great in gangs of new york as well.

I find it funny that all his recent movies are probably my favorite compared to pretty much anything released recently.
