    Default Hard drive requirements

Being a total war fan and modder, I hate to miss out on M2TW, but there's just one problem - ELEVEN GIGS!!!

I just worked out that I can squeeze up to MAX 9 gbs of space, 2 gbs short. I dont want to buy a new hard drive because it simply wont fit in my box ne more lol

How much does it really need? Because I know games cay say 5 gb, and after install it's just really 2.5 and the extra is just for windows swap file or something. Please help, I wanna make a decision soon.

Everything else in my computer can run it, already have a radeon X800 too which kills Oblivion on highest settings

The final installation takes up something along the line of 7 and a half gigs, and while you theoretically could get that much space, the game would not perform to optimal levels without at least another few gb free space, as it needs to read very large archives while both playing and patching.

Buy a new hard drive and reinstall windows. That's your best bet. You need the extra room for performance, as sapi said, and a new hard drive isn't going to cost you that much.

Hell, buy an external USB (or firewire) hard drive and play from there.

Check out these internal drives as they have a 16mb cache, which helps with the data transfer. You can't go wrong with a new Baraccuda.

Heh unfortunately I dont get paid for another 2 weeks, but I wanna play it NOW!

It's cool, about to head out to get it (half price atm) and I'll see if 10 gbs is enough (I've really cleaned up my mess on my hard-drive, but I guess this pretty much removes my RTW mods )

Get an external case for one of your other drives and toss a new one into your case. YOu can get 320Gb disks for practically nothing these days. I remeber when I bought my 1st 40Mb HD - *THAT* was expensive.
