I just finished my very hard campaign with templars, however im playing them futher its so great. Alltho im no pro at this game, i ignore all the merchant ******** etc. i never lost at hard/ very hard settings. But this game, i was very close to lose. Everyone rebelling because of faith, jihads called on you, mongol arrival when i estabilish well running empire... really good ****.

So im wondering, if u guyz who have problem with this faction, want some guide?

for units? just whatever u like. My personal choice is always somewhat mixed army, 3-4 horse units, great general, 5 archer or missile units and rest for infantry. I dont usually use siege, untill cannon arrives. But this is about the perfect army, which is usually far from the army i have. I rely way too much on mercenaries but i just cant help it . And I dont like the gun powder units.

the easiest way to play templar is to conquer antioch first, then one of the (or all) castle triangle surround antioch, try to hold the northern border (even better if you could be at peace with byz/turks), then conquer holy land, wipe the egyptian, then to the west (byz) at this time you shall have good economy, thus you can start crippling turks (but don't destroy it, make sure it can 'protect' u from Mongols), give baghdad/edessa/that region south edessa to your allies (make sure to feed them with money to prevent them from attacking you) ---> you can reclaim these territories later, continue to the west ---> I prefer conquer the entire settlements around black sea since it will give you huge amount of florins; after you conquer them + holy land + egypt, you pretty much own the map with all your money.

hehe, actually the strategy also applies to Hungary, just reverse the course of action.

units? r u kidding me? templars have the #1 rooster there.

ur pretty much abusing the game, coz actually nobody knew that mongols will invade. Well however, i played like you. We just differ in one thing - i wiped out Turks. They betrayed me in the worst situation, and i dont ever forgive.

For the KT faction, swordsmith guilds at 1st level are easily triggered. Only 2nd level is rather impossible if you you have completed all smithy upgrades for the targeted province without any triggering, especilly after 25 turns when a point is deducted per turn thereafter. Besides smithys which will give 5-25 points (if I'm not wrong), training of sword units will earn 15 points per unit. You need 150 points for the 1st level swordsmith btw. and 250 points for the 2nd.
