    Default Roman Leadership mod questions

Quite simply, I cannot sustain my interest in any other mod that doesn't feature this. I enjoy micro-managing my families, even to the point of taking out pen and paper and listing all of my leaders, their retinue, and their special skills.

That said, I've got a few questions.

I understand perfectly how to handle tribunes, and what is necessary to reach legate status. Beyond that, I'm not sure I've got a perfect handle on it. I simply won't use anyone as a governor that has not reached legate status and served 10 years in the military. The Roman leadership chart states that a legate with 6 years of service is elgible for for the title of provincial governor. I have only been given this title with Praetors; I've tried repeatedly putting legates with 16+ years of military service in a city, and have not received the title or the ancillary. Also, the chart states that I may have one of these per ten cities. My question is...will this count against the number of active Praetors I have in service? My biggest problem in my most recent campaign was that I had a lot of generals with 20 years service time. I'd allow their tenure as legate to lapse by putting them in a city for several turns. They would lose the command bonus of legate status, but NOT receive provincial governor OR be awarded Praetor status if I removed them from the city and put them in command of troops. The guide states that to qualify for praetor a general has to be 40 years old and have no other ancillary banners in his possesion. Realizing that I have reached my limit of praetors, I tried to influence who would be selected (i.e. my best leaders) by leaving the legionary standard in the posession of some lesser commanders, only to see them promoted anyway!
In short, if I have 20 cities, I can have how many praetors? 3? 3 provincial governors, for a total of 6 special titles? Or is it 3 total?

With 20 cities (i.e. 20 regions or provinces), you can have 1 provincial governor per 10 cities/regions, so you can have only 2 governors. Well, 3 if you are counting the Praetor Urbanus (Governor of Latium/Roma) too. This position is a special governor's position.

Is there a way to edit the # of allowed praetors and provincial governors in a text file that I could easily find? I hate having to conquer more cities than I really care to in order to get one more of my 20 year legates up to praetor!

I'm sorry, but it would take quite a bit of editing of the "export_descr_character_traits.txt" and "export_descr_ancillaries.txt" to achieve that. I based the whole system on having limits to how many Provincial Governors could be available. You can still assign any extra characters to cities as city governors instead. The will just not get any additional benefits for this post. I've done this on occasion when a particularly troublesome newly conquered city needs a bit more personal governance to keep it inline.

Its not a big issue. I just simply like to reward my 20 year veterans with some sort of status for a distinguished career. The further my campaign progresses (and the more provinces I conquer) the less a problem the limited number becomes anyhow.
