Make sure you start with a CLEAN install of Rome Total war. This means uninstalling the version you have and Deleting the RTW folder.

Then Reinstall Rome total war, then install Patch 1.3 and then 1.5 you have to have these patches for the Mod to work.

Then Install the 6.2 Full version of the Mod, and then Install 6.35 patch.

Make sure you go into your "preferences" folder in the RTW folder and edit the preferences.txt change "First Time Play to FALSE"

Then go Run RTW and now the Mod should load. There could be Several Reasons why the mod isnt working, all of them related to something being done wrong on the client end. Most make the mistake of not have a clean install, some forget the patches for RTW, and some Dont install the full version and only install the patch. lol

    Hope this helps.

A good idea would be to check to make sure you have the patch. Easiest way is to go into the game and go into options and check the version number at the top right of the screen.

checked that and its definatley 1.5 . this is realy confusing me i cant work it out. 1) did a clean install.
    2)installed patch 1.3 then 1.5
    3) whent oonto the game opened prolouge exited an it said first time
    false
4)downloaded and installed the mod.i checked they were all in the same directory but still its not affecting the game.

if it makes any difference when i go on add/remove programs thers rome total war and rome total war 1.3.

Are you sure it installed to the right directory? Check in your rome folder (default is C:/Program Files/Activision/Rome - Total War) to make sure, and check if the SPQR Readme folder is in there. Also, check to make sure that the installer says 'SPQR_6.2_Full', and not 6.35. Also, try installing the full mod without 6.35 patch and see if that makes a difference.

i want to play it so bad but none of the solutions i've found so far have worked. im sure im doing everything write and when i install the mod it dose it fine with no problem finishes then just closes and hasnt had any affect at all.

in anoyher one it says it might not be in the .exe one i dont reealy know what this means but both the game and rome are under activasion and the readme is in the rome program files.

try downloading the from different mirrors though, coz they might have been corrupted the 1st time around. also, if you can and know how (i dont), uninstall everything first including deleting all files and folders that remain after uninstall and going into your system registry and delete anything concerning RTW you find in there.

If you're like me and you don't know which files in the system reg. you need to delete, you might want to go to activision support and ask.

on the other topic i posted related to this it says you have to delte any history of rom ever being on your pc i thought you just had to re install it but anyway so far i uninstalled rome, uninstalled rome 1.3,did a file search and got rid of anything else for 1.5 and 1.3 ,deleted some bits i found in the activasion folder, and then got rid of any spqr stuff and ran a pc cleaner thing to look for any left over ffiles from it is this enough fora clean install and where is the rome total war folder??

LOL, i think you overdid it a little bit but yeah, that should work. For a clean install to work all you have to do is uninstall the game and patch 1.3, and then delete the RTW folder. To get to the RTW folder, open my computer, click on the C: hard disc drive, then click on the folder titled program files, then click on the activision folder, and delete the folder called 'Rome - Total War', and that should be it. I hope this helps. Then just reinstall the game, patch 1.3, patch 1.5, and then SPQR. I would suggest running the game on patch 1.5 first though, without installing SPQR, to make sure it even works without SPQR. If it doesn't, somethings wrong.

    Good luck!

yes try playing the Vanilla First and see if you can, I had this happen once to myself I was busy and installed etc during testing and I would get CTDs while loading SPQR. Well after bumping my head at what it could be, I decided to play Vanilla RTW and see what Happens. It didnt the same CTD thing. I noticed that my ATI card when it reach a certain temp would caused RTW to CTD even in the vanilla. That is when I bought a New fan and all the problems went away.

Of course your Problem is DIFFERENT, but the testing would be sound by playing the Vanilla RTW first and see if you can. Play first without the patches, then install 1.3 and see if you can play and then install 1.5 and see if you can play.

its not that the game doesnt work because after each bit i played custom battles to test it its that spqr has no affect on the game.the readme is in the rome files and all the spqr files are on the pc but they dont do anything.if it makes any difference theres 2 rome total wars 1 by creative assembly and 1 under activasin but neither have ben changed.

Its sounds like only 2 things one SPQR is installed under the Wrong game folder or The download is corrupted. The mod overwrites files so you should know if it works. By it doing nothing sounds like the wrong folder. The default directory the .exe will install to is

    C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War

Is your full download of SPQR the correct Mb? But to be honest soundsl ike you have an Install problem you shouldnt have 2 directories for RTW. Sounds like your game is running from the creative assembly one and not the activision one. JUst reinstall the mod and make sure you point to the creative assembly folder one
