add - show_err to the end of the shortcut file and when it crashes it should tell you the problem.

OK... you are puttin them in RTW, NOT THE DATA FOLDER(!), right?

Download and run patch 10. Find it here:
    http://files.filefront.com/FULL_Patc.../fileinfo.html

Then, download and run the "hotfix". Find it here:
    http://files.filefront.com/RS___110_.../fileinfo.html

Then run new_UI.bat (and I ran UI.bat, the normal one, just to be safe, but the patch/hotfix runs it automatically).

Then enjoy the game! If it still doesn't work, post again.

Sorry to say, that's the only way to uninstall Roma Surrectum. But, you don't need to uninstall, just reinstall it (it overwrites the old one). If that doesn't work, it may be a corrupt download.

Gentlemen, please do not keep saying people have a 'corrupt download'. If the file extracts the files at all, it can't be corrupt. A corrupt download will TELL you it's corrupt if the compressed file has been compromised.

I'm sorry to say this, but the instructions for loading RS are clear and simple, and have been repeated many times.
But I will repeat them again:

    Install RTW
    Install patch v1.3
    Install patch v1.5
Install RomaSurrectum v1.exe into your RTW folder (not data folder.)
    Install Full_patch10.exe into RTW folder.
Run 'NEW_UI.BAT' which is in RTW folder.
Install Hotfix 1.10..point it to your RTW folder...it does everything for you.

If this does not result in you playing the mod, then:

    1. YOUR Rome Total War installation is corrupt, bad, not working.
    2. YOU installed the mod elsewhere.
    3. YOU are running Vista.
    4. YOU are running Windows 98\2000.
    5. YOUR CD's are dirty, scratched or causing bad RTW installs.
    6. YOUR computer has a virus, spyware or other malware.

Every time this has happened, it is user error or something wrong with your computer.

I've been told several times that it was a corrupt download, by that it could be a problem from the server, from the hoster (whoever hosts the files) and the person who receives it, and almost every time a re-download fixes the situation.

The installers that I made are no more than compressed ZIP files with an EXE extension so you don't need the program that created them.

If a zip file of this nature were corrupted by downloading...in otherwords, parts of it were missing, the internal zip MD5 coding would detect this and immediately report that the zip file was corrupt. It wouldn't extract or install anything.

Every case I've seen so far, including yours a while ago, was a case of a corrupt RTW install. A far more likely occurance because of the media and hardware itself being 'tolerant' of file read mistakes. I have actually watched CDROMS try to read dirty or scratched or worn out CD's, and actually 'install' the game or program....but it's junk because the the CDROM made mistakes in reading the files, or couldn't read them at all and just skipped them. Games are particularly prone to this because the CDROM is 'reading' AND extracting files from 'BINS' or other forms of compressed files on the CD, so you can have errors in the extraction from the CD as well...and poor installers will sometimes miss them.

I had exactly this issue on one of my test installs of RTW that I was using to build and test this mod a while ago. It acted 'squirrely'. CTD'd during custom battles with no error, and for no apparent reason I could find. Finally, I nuked it and installed again, after cleaning the CD, and everything was perfect! And I use the same installers that everyone else does, I even download them on occasion just to check their integrity.
