    Default Questions

Hey all, I'm currently playing the demo version so if I cant do something you can you'll know why

    1. How do I combine armies that I've made? So like at the start when you have 3-5 units all under one banner?

    2. Whats the point of "Claim Throne"? I thought it was meant to justify a war so that you can launch an assault without your stability decreasing.

However in my current game as England I was trying to invade Ireland. However when I tried to attack them it wouldn't let my army enter their territory? (think I had a marriage alliance with that green kingdom.. )

    3. Whats your strategy when playing as England? Everyone on the British Isles (except me) is allied with each other (like Ireland) and Scotland has 2 powerful allies

    1. Drag a box over the armies you wish to combine. They must be in the same province. In the top right hand corner of the box that displays your troops is a button to merge these armies.

    2. Gives you a cause of war. Your stability may still decrease for various reasons, same faith, for example.

Did you declare war on the Irish Kingdom you were attacking?

    3. Annex Ireland, driplo-annex Scotland to become Great Britain. Colonise.

How do I annex both Scotland and Ireland? Wouldnt I have to declare war?

Oh and when I used the "Claim Throne" option it still wouldnt let my armies into their terriotry (I got worse relations though.. yay )

EDIT: Wait a sec, your saying I need to Claim Throne and declare war?

EDIT: What do you mean by annex?

Annex means that they become part of your empire and aren't just a vassal or something, their provinces turn the same colour as your empire and the annexed faction ceases to exist.

You can annex two ways as far as I know:

    1. You can go to war with the target faction many times until you claim all their provinces in peace deals apart from their capital, it's not possible to claim the capital. Then once they only have their capital province left, you declare war on them again, successfully besiege their capital and annex them.

    2. The second way is to constantly give them gifts, until you get 190-200 relations, get a royal marriage, get an alliance and finally get them to accept vassalisation, once they are your vassal for 10 years you can try to annex them. I think again you need 190-200 relations to be successful, if you fail your relations with them will drop about 50 points, so you will have to send gifts to get it back to 190-200 again. Also I think it's only possible to do this if they are the same religious group as your faction (so for you that would mean Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox or Reformed.)

You don't need to claim their throne, but you should try to have a cassus belli (cause of war). This will happen many different ways. You do need to declare war before you can invade anybody, though.

Annex means to conquer a state entirely.

You can diplomatically annex anyone who is your vassal, for 10 years, and has relations higher than 190. Vassals acquired by any means either, be they in a different religion or even if they have a government that does not allow royal marriages (like...venice or genoa, or novgorod, all merchant republics)
