Fraction Roman Senate is free. Are you going make new fraction? - for exemple Ilyrians, new Gaul ( Arverni - Aedui ) , or German - Marcomanni.
Play Getae is to easy, because they have not enemys fractions.
Slave fraction do not recruit army. After few battles conquer province to easy.

I think if you try and use the Senate faction for anything other than the actual Senate, the game stops working.

Hm. Well if I decode this correctly, are you saying that the SPQR faction of RTW vanilla is free? I've not played as the Gatae; But historically, they were VERY powerful and had quite a few run ins with the Romans. Dacia was a bit of a problem child for Rome after Gaul was conquered.

As to new factions, I think (imho) that Illyria would be too easy to conquer and too hard to play as. They are best left as a "free people" faction imo.

If you want a new gaul, maybe DVK could look into the Galatians, Celts that invaded Greece, were repulsed, and colonized in Asia Minor. That would give you a faction with Greek, Barbarian, and eastern units all rolled into one. And there were historically 3 Galatian cities in Asia Minor, so you'd have a decent starting size!

Um... the Galatians (Gelatae)? I am doing a history camp this summer for some kids and came across them in my brushing-up of Greek ancient history... seems the plauge, when they talk about it coming about in Macedonia, and that it was certainly brought by the celts, they were talking about these guys. Might be worth looking into though, and would add to an already 110% mod! just a thought...

Yeah, we went through that debate... dvk and I really wanted to add the Nabateans, but Squid wouldn't let us... too weak to impact the events of the period, he said. So we went with the Finns instead!
