I hate to be bugging about sounds, but when I try to replace the events.idx/dat files in the sounds folder so the Danes and Hungarians don't speak english, I get a CTD while loading.

hmm... these .idx and .dat files are quite annoying, because different game localizations need different files of them...
That's the reason why some people have to exchange them with the original ones, otherwise it's also possible that the game will crash when clicking on an character of another faction.
However, this shouldn't happen when you use your original files.
This was no answer to your question unfortunately, but I'll have to look into this...
