Like sure you could use expensive shock...
If you use two javelin cav attacking from opposite sides the HAs get confused and will get run down more often than not. You'll cause casualties when you "crossfire" them, if they're running clean...
I use javelin cav for 3 things: engaging horse archers, running down routing units, and charging into the rear of light units like slingers or archers.
I have noticed that they seem to do...
Hey everyone, just in case the previous fix has issues in 2.4, I've rebuilt it using the new version of EBII.
Like I said before - the mountains look less majestic, but no longer phase in and out...
I am literally doing work admin late into the wee hours and randomly clicked through to the ever-open EBII tab and
OH
MY
GOD
My favourite Total War mod of all time gets a shiny new...
Damn, this all looks amazing - can't wait to start a new Baktrian campaign whenever the new version drops.
Will the Tocharians be a mid/late game emergent faction, like the vanilla Mongols? It...
Congratulations! I've been following the previews and these look absolutely superb, great work.
There was a period in Med2 modding where every other mod asked you to delete .dat and .idx files from the sounds folder and have the game repopulate them on launch... no idea if that's related to the...
No, there was a huge update just recently. On average there's a few months to a year between major releases and lots of smaller update patches in between.
Question about the "unrest script". Your starting capital region is exempt from uprisings/bandits/rebellions/what-have-you, but is this also true if you change your capital?
The specific example...
This is a great way to nibble away at mega-empires like the Seleucids :) Always nabbing those border regions, nom nom.
Strategically, yes. I don't go full role-play ("oh, this governor is selfish, dull, and optimistic, I'm gonna play him like an unrepentant idiot") but I do try and keep things like routes of...
Update: I fixed it!!! It feels incredible, like popping a zit you've had for months.
Turns out Med2 doesn't like "High Mountain" ground types being too densely clustered and freaks out, so I've...
Hi all,
So one thing that annoys me a great deal is a weird visual bug that happens around the Hindu Kush mountains where the peaks will flicker in and out of existence as you scroll past them,...
So, quick feedback on some of the cavalry/melee changes:
1. Cavalry are now both more and less fragile than before. I lose way fewer cav to general attrition now because their charge is so...
Oh, if the large movement increase is unintentional then it may be a bug? Characters & armies feel like they can march way further for sure.
EDIT: all characters have action_points 250 and...
Just about to kick off a Baktria campaign. Will post my impressions of the cavalry changes!
That's super interesting. The distinction between cavalry-focused factions and more settled infantry-focused factions being reflected in unit numbers is a really cool one, but if melee + shock cav...
Very curious to see the cav changes! Blocks of cavalry are often the decisive element in my battles so it would be interesting to see if I'll need to adjust my tactics and maybe develop some new ones.
I think the justification is partly historic - Afghanistan had a large hellenised population and was the nucleus of a very large Indo-Greek kingdom whose influence spread syncretic Greco-Buddhist...
Oh, one thing I totally forgot to mention - the new unified unit cards! Lots of units' icons are now done in the same style/aspect and it improves the game experience so much lol. Great job to...
Nope, sorry, Windows, camp with no walls. It was also a one-off for me, replayed the battle fine after the crash.
I got a random crash besieging a nomad camp, but there was nothing in the error log and I just played through the same battle again with no issues. I'm gonna chalk it up to random MedII weirdness.

re: the new revolts - generally my experience seems to be (80 turns in) that there's fewer revolts than in 2.35 but they're more substantial and I find myself fighting more of those battles in 2.35A...
Just wanted to chime in and say I think the projectile changes are great. My hemithorakitai peltophoroi absolutely cleaned house when flinging javelins into unarmoured, unshielded infantry blobs...
Great, appreciate it. I've been testing the Year in History on a few other factions and it just doesn't seem to be working for me. I'll do a full reinstall at some point and see if that solves it.
...
If it helps, I took a quick glance at the regions file and the settlement in question, sett_142, lacks the "mixed" special resource that its neighbouring provinces (also nomadic & pastoral) have....
Hey all,
Having a blast with 2.35A, EBII is great as ever.
However, I've noticed two bugs in my current Baktria campaign -
1.) "This year in history" doesn't seem to be firing. I got the...
Congratulations to the team!
Hell yeah! I'll make sure to seed the new version once I've got it :)
I think you've run into the "corrupted portrait" bug. From the FAQ:
5) Numidian Portrait Bug: There are three mangled portraits in the...
Frustratingly, nobody on the forum is allowed to give you a simple, straight answer, for legal reasons related to the EULA.
But you can look at the stickied thread "A quick note on the stability...
Very excited for the new version! The previewed units all look fantastic and I'm eager to see how the new revolt mechanic plays out.
Yeah, they are pretty overspecialised. You are trading a significant amount of versatility - and paying a lot of money - for an absolutely magnificent charge. I do think it's a shame that they're not...
Yeah, elephants are a pretty gimmicky unit but deployed right they are absolute lawnmowers. Problem is they're easy to deploy wrong, they're expensive, and javelins & getting bogged down will...
There's your problem - both these deployments waste the potential of elephants. The historical "deploy in front of infantry and mash the enemy line into paste" is still viable for armoured elephants,...
The answer is "with difficulty". For me the issue is that scythed chariots are too slow, too spread-out, and too prone to panicking to be of any use whatsoever. I always mod my edu to tighten up...
No offense man but you seem unfamiliar with basic software development. Usually once all the features that design leads want are complete, the current build is "feature locked" (i.e. nothing else...
I actually really like the 3K retinue system - it fits the setting. Not a huge amount of unique regional troops (that we have any real knowledge of) in 3rd century CE Han China, and besides, the...
Super excited for this update. Can't wait for the new rebel spawn system that was talked about a while back, in particular.
Been playing Troy on and off and although it's technically about ~800...
