Noting the same problem in Vanilla TATW 3.2 just recently installed (Win10 + Steam) and patched with the essential and creature bugfixes, and launched the instructed way with the batch script. The...
Apologies if I'm being daft, but what are the setup instructions for the non-installer version? That's what I've downloaded (for Steam/Mac) and while the instructions reference this as an option...
Two minor audio issues (not bugs) that should be easy fixes; maybe a submod already takes care of them?
1) I'm assuming the M2TW audio "Be awed at the victory we have won here today!" was...
Henneth Ammun is a mess. It looks beautiful static, but moving around the camera view is insanity because of the vast and sudden height differences.
There's also a weird bug I'm experiencing...
The princess mechanic was a poor one and I'm not sorry that it hasn't been included.
Actually, I'm not a huge fan of agents in general.
surrender_region faction
QS, that's one of the coolest ideas I've seen -- how would you implement it?
If it's possible to test for via triggers, it sounds like there's a lot of potential there. For example, punishing...
This thread is literally all greek to me.
How did you change them? Is this built-in M2TW code? What are they for the vanilla factions?
Very interesting stuff. I like "Sailor Stalin." That...
If this helps gameplay considerations, I'm all for it. It sounds like Macedon is too vulnerable and I'm not sure how that could get addressed without this.
About barbarian dominance in Europe,...
It sounds like you aren't making use of the free upkeep forts for the elephants.
I play kind of boring, but when I played Takashila, I found out that conquering the rebel city initially made...
It's probably already set to read only, which is why it won't save the file. You'll have to untick "ready only", save the file, and then make it read only again.
Good info torongill. That's probably it. I suppose protecting medieval2.preference.cfg with read only after changing the resolutions would be necessary too.
"1" means "true" and "0" means "false"...
That's awesome! Hopefully you can coordinate with the EB2 staff so that there's no duplication of effort. As for me, any model progress is good model progress!
I just do not understand how it's possible to change a file's name, but not be possible to change the file's contents.
Can you open the file in text editor?
Balance and AI behavior is something that everyone's watching as part of the beta process, so threads like this are great. It'll help fine-tuning wherever that's needed. Maybe some scripting, some...
It sounds like it's your GEM options. Have you changed them at all?
And how are you removing it? It seems like you perhaps aren't doing that correctly, as it should be removable.
I read that this is a M2TW bug that happens in Vanilla as well, but I haven't confirmed.
EB2 is suggested to be run in Windows mode.
Instead of changing it to fullscreen, keep windowed = 1 and borderless_window = 1, and instead change the battle & campaign resolutions to match your...
I don't believe they do anymore. I use postimg.org now.
I feel like there's a long, contentious "spear vs sword" thread that happened years ago on some Total War forum (maybe this one) that I read. Lot of deja vu here.
Can we get back to the horses,...
Awesome work on this!
I haven't played EB2 in a little while, but it sounds like when I do I'll have to try out your updates.
Notepad.
Ah, so disregard my previous post since RomansNearMessana = 0 if Rome and Carthage aren't at war.
That 147,137 instead of 143,137 looks like a typo, though.
(edit) Actually, Un-disregard my...
I think Poppis is exactly right. The first monitor means at the end of every turn, when playing as Rome vs AI Carthage, with Rebels owning (I'm guessing Messana) and Carthage owning (I'm guessing...
Welllllllll, the Steam update and subsequent hotfixes haven't been perfect, but CA rescued the game after Gamespy servers shut down this summer. We would've been without RTW Multiplayer at all except...
I think that's a pretty reasonable solution and I wouldn't mind cutting down an enemy to pieces. However, if that were MY unit, I'd want them to run away and hopefully regroup rather than sit there,...
It's full on your computer if you installed it through Steam.
Perhaps you didn't find it because there was a typo in the original file name posted here, it's descr_strat.txt
Oh man, you gotta go with the 7 Warring States.
Massed, massed archers. In all my time of playing SP only it never occurred to me to bring more than a couple archers units to complement an infantry-heavy army. After playing MP, I did a Macedon SP...
Since the Steam update, it's gotten a little bit weird. In the lobby you usually see people (unless it's the wrong time of day and nobody is there). Sometimes in the Game Room, there are other people...
Oh, man!
That's cool :D
Probably what's happening here is what you thought were missile troops are actually considered to be infantry. What unit were they? It could be a mistake in the classification, or it might be...
Another solution is to keep windowed mode on, but change the campaign & battle resolutions in medieval2.preference.cfg in your main M2TW folder to match your desktop resolution.
In vanilla M2TW it also wasn't any unit you could build in the city. "Free upkeep when garrisoned" was an attribute in their description, and it was only the 'militia' units that were free upkeep.
...
I was going to stick a caveat there that I could be wrong, and it turns out that I should've, because I was. Cheers :D
No, I'm suggesting that there was little interaction with the other factions until this period.
What happened to the Saka?
The game streamer / youtube player community in general is probably extremely male-skewed. Would be great for the community to see some diversity.
History purists can't be serious about pining for vanilla Total War games. By the way, join us in the Europa Barbarorum 2 forum ;)
I think the bigger issue is Warhammer name recognition. I'm not...
Clearly not, given how prominently Rome and the Hellenic factions are featured in EB -- and that has little to do with # of cities. While the Pritanoi appear to be (albeit well-designed) way out on...
