Seems like an anti-immersion decision, but I understand. Many of the unit names especially from the barbarian and nomadic factions seem like alien languages.

Looking good! Can't wait for the release.
Currently reading Pachinko, a historical-fiction novel that takes place in the 20th century Korea/Japan regions. The story begins in the late 1910s when Korea was a Japanese colony with a small...
Yeah. They can also give benefits without requiring a map model. The map model adds a lot of immersion, however.
This is actually a genius idea. It can dull cavalry charges and protect against missiles. Very few cases of its use of course, but still genius. This makes me wish armies could build fortifications...
At least here is an incentive to reform and stop using the bulky a*s phalanxes. A nice little detour from the usual "dominate everyone with my phalanx no matter what" route the campaigns usually take.
The fact that your Macedonian allies actually joined you in a fight against fellow Greeks is not only impressive, but also historical. Pyrrhus randomly appearing on Rhodes though... funny.
I have the suspicion that even if all the stat and guard mode problems you've pointed out here get amended, the way the AI uses phalanx units will still be laughable and dumb. Because of the...
R4 when? (approximately)
Minor oversight: The monastery map models have been replaced by elephant models.:laughter:
Can always finish the job later. Would be nice if I had some Serbian, Bulgarian or Roman vassal armies fighting for me as Ottomans. It would help lift the pressure in the Balkans.
Depends on your preference. If you want a very intensive early start to your campaign, any of the 3 factions in Hellas are great choices as you have to make strategic choices every turn to avoid...
Is vassalization a viable strategy now? As in: Do factions actually accept vassalage with out being reduced to the absolute pitiful state of minimum territory? I'm playing an Ottoman campaign and I...
Your Rome is a fair bit larger than Rome ever was, including a part of Hibernia (Ireland) and a large swath of the northern steppe. With fully annexed and integrated Armenia and Mesopotamia which is...
They are cool... but definitely need a stat rework. Their charge and armour stats aren't high enough to really distinguish them as the last professional fusion of Skytho-Hellenic cavalry. Just never...
Well... turns out it wasn't. I can't resist the wishful thinking either. Seeing this place half dead is really sad as this mod is the only late antiquity mod with any hope of release for Med2. Such...
He does have a point here actually. We know that Hannibal's army equipped itself with Roman gear after Lake Trasimene and that at Cannae, the left wing of the Carthaginian army which consisted of...
As far as I know, the veteran Silver-Shields of Alexander's anabasis were killed off by Antigonos when he sent them on suicide mission to the east. There is no possibility of recreating a unit of...
Correct! His was a case of tragedy indeed. Guess it's your turn to post again eh?
Rome is generally quite pathetic in EB2. Considering the era in which the mod takes place, this is a severe issue. Rome is supposed to overrun every other Mediterranean entity in a relatively short...
Amazing shots.
Clue: He was the only competent minister in the history of the Qajar dynasty.

RomeII units and battles are spreadsheeted trash. The building isn't fun. The map models are awful. The AI sucks and a cherry on the top is that they've reduced modding potential in several ways.
Arthur Currie
I noticed that only Celtic faction infantry units use sound to signal movement of troops. The Carnyx was used to increase the noise and confusion in the battlefield not to exactly signal troop...
Have any of you guys noticed the excessive amount of Equites Romani that Romans have? It's kind of ridiculous. Whenever I play as a non-roman faction they have stack with half of them being roman...
Common sense is the most useful tool against the unbelievably stupid AI that can barely form a proper battle line. So most of the time, making and holding a proper line against the clustered AI...
You're talking about the CA right? Because I'm pretty sure the BA is unfixable.
Uhm why are there no links for the completed analyses section? I really wanna read those...
How to get Hellenic military colonies as Kimmerios Bosphoros? Can't seem to get them at the beginning even though I have Hellenic Poleis that should naturally generate colonists. Do I have to wait...
Depends on your preferred style I suppose. I went the centralized path in my playthrough and I don't regret it. A full Hellenic doctrine of warfare can fold both Romans and Carthaginians etc. easily....
Charge into the enemy camp and seduce the enemy general of course.
Have custom formations been added yet?
A little, but not a lot. The more you learn history, the more you want to see the real history reflected in the games you play. And EBII is really as accurate as it's gonna get for TW.(for now...
Does this mod have a battle AI to come with it? The battle AI is just so bad... makes me wanna rip my hair out sometimes, because everything else in this mod is close to perfection. There was another...
Have you tried Skynet?
Under what condition does Serbian despotate rebellion happen? Is it turn based or is it based on the death of a character? I was playing as the Ottomans and managed to kill the Serbian Tsar in a...
The Gallic horsemen under Publius Crassus. Do we count them as mercenaries or auxiliaries? Not sure, but they did travel a great distance. First they served under Caesar in Gaul and then went to war...
Roman Devotio Ritual: There is an option to have the Roman general perform a "devotio" ritual if they are on the edge of losing the battle. Upon clicking, the Roman body guard unit goes berserk and...
