    Re: SSHIP - General Discussion

How exactly does the AI switcher work? Is there a way to switch it in the bat file, or do I just copy and paste into the main file, data\descr_campaign_ai_db.xml?
  2. Re: Will we ever see Augustan reforms for Rome that make managing the Cursus easier?

DEI's system is better, I think, limiting reforms to a smaller turn time and imperium level (although obviously MedII doesn't allow for this). 500 turns is a bit much.
  3. Re: [Micromod] Enfranchised Cretans, Galatians, Thracians, Jews, and Anatolians

    These look great, good job!
  4. Re: Will we ever see Augustan reforms for Rome that make managing the Cursus easier?

A pity. How do people deal with the Cursus in the late game then, aside from ignoring it completely?
  5. Will we ever see Augustan reforms for Rome that make managing the Cursus easier?

I don't even care about new units, I just want reforms that makes managing the Cursus over a Mediterranean-spanning empire somewhat realistic.
  6. EBII's battles can sometimes feel like whack-a-mole

I understand what the team is going for, making better battles than vanilla while staying clear from RSII-esque grindfests, but honestly battles can be a bit frustrating sometimes. The entire enemy...
  7. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

    Perfect, thank you!
  8. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

Ah I see. I take it that there's no way of getting the BP now? I destroyed the Hellenic Administration and it hasn't spawned.
  9. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

Hmmm, it hasn't been built for me. Anyone else run into this issue?
  10. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

Does building a Hellenic Administration in Pella prior to the Kingship reform ruin the reform? I built all the required buildings and got the reform message, but no Basiliki Patris has been built in...

Re: What are your favourite factions?

Tried Egypt recently and it was fun! You're a Hellenic faction that starts off strong (unlike KH/Makedonia/Epirus), but not sprawling (unlike the Seulukids). You start off at war with the Grey Death...

Re: What are your favourite factions?

I've tried Numidia a few times but the oddly-darkened portraits and every character being called "of Numida" just annoys me too much.

    What are your favourite factions?

Coming back to EB2 after a hiatus, looking for a fresh faction to try.

Re: Is Roman RPG even possible?

Are you establishing a lot of client states? The game counts client rulers as family members so having a lot of them reduces the amount of family members you will get.

Aside from that, I find the...

Re: Tentative "fix" for homicidal AI

Started a Carthage game with the beta AI, on the very first turn Rome broke its alliance with me and Numidia besieged one of my settlements.

Re: Tentative "fix" for homicidal AI

    Thanks for this!

So does just changing those three files, descr_campaign_db.xml, descr_campaign_ai_db.xml, and descr_diplomacy.xml, work?

Re: Is the mod dead ?

Indeed, the constant cycles of war followed by instant peace followed by war followed by peace is pretty tiresome.

Re: Is the mod dead ?

On the contrary, but the current homicidal AI is making the wait for the next version feel a lot longer than reality.
  21. Will there be a mini-release to neuter the new AI?

The current iteration of EBII is the most awesome yet, but the new AI takes "Total War" far too literally. Games have been getting very frustrating very quickly lately.
  22. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

The movement should definitely be kept for fleets. The one undeniable benefit of the new movement ranges is that it makes the late-game Cursus Honorum somewhat playable, fleets movement should be...
  23. Re: Questions! Questions that need answering!

Speaking of the Diopter Basilikos ancillary, it really doesn't make sense that KH characters can get it. At least, they should have a league of cities-appropriate equivalent ("Strategos' Eye"...
  24. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

Well if the flatter trajectory is the team's intention, it is the team's intention.

However, is there any plans to tone down the aggressiveness of the new AI?
  25. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

I'd hold off for now, there's been talk of a possible R4 in the works, which is absolutely needed to tone down the current Game-of-Thrones-esque AI.
  26. Campaign AI has been a bit too bi-polar since the last patch

Disclaimer: I actually like the spirit of the new changes. Campaigns are a lot more dynamic and factions rise and fall with a satisfying regularity.

Its just that its a bit too hyperactive. Every...
  27. Sticky: Re: v2.35A R3.5 has been released - please do NOT report any bugs if you are playing with previous versions

Melee troops with javelins seem to stand still and not fight back in melee combat a lot more than they used to in previous versions. This only happens with the AI, my own troops are fine.

    Re: EBII Minus

Damn! Time to put my Romani grand campaign on hold I guess.
  29. Sticky: Re: v2.35A R3.5 has been released - please do NOT report any bugs if you are playing with previous versions

In fairness its 255 BC in my current Pergamon campaign and I haven't had a single Galatian raid (in earlier versions I got one within the first few turns). Also I got the "Galatians are defeated"...

  31. Re: Campaign/battle map suddenly unplayable due to lag

Nothing, I hadn't played in a few days, I came back and it was suddenly lag city.

It's happening on all new campaigns/battles as well.
  32. Campaign/battle map suddenly unplayable due to lag

The game was running fine, and now for some reason it lags to the point where the game is unplayable. I didn't change the game in any aspect prior to the lag starting. Even with the settings turned...
  33. Re: Rad compares units - a thread for balancing.

That's a surprise, because the current "placeholder" looks good enough to be the finished model.

On that note, if the epilektoi getting a new model soon, the current placeholder (with smaller...
  34. Re: Rad compares units - a thread for balancing.

Eh I haven't actually played a game until 222 BC yet since the patch but according to the patch notes thorakitai numbers have been beefed up for all Hellenic factions.

    Any team member that can...

    Indeed it is.
  37. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

Got the centralised Epeirote reform, and I built a Prostratus first in Pella, then Ambrakia. However the option to build a Basilike only appeared in Pella. Can the option not be present in more than...
  38. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

Currently at turn 70 as Epeiros. I always roleplay so my cavalry numbers are pretty much remain the same as before (2 heavy including FM's, 1 light/medium, 1 skirmisher). Also I haven't seen a need...
  39. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!
