    So, the plot thickens! Successful diplomatic mission can result in a faction gifting you a settlement! I'd suspect the rate of such occurrence depends on the campaign difficulty setting.

    Yep. While it is less pronounced, AI generals always get into the thick of it. They don't charge first but usually in wave 2 or 3. It is a better model than vanilla where the general would be in wave...
