    Re: Saved game issue

Usually a save game will fail because you lack something - maybe a submod, an edit in any of the campaign files or something similar. Or it's a corruption of the file, which seems likely based on how...

  3. Re: Roman FMs and their hatred for games/races

It's pretty much a carbon copy from Rome Total War, but yeah it could use being toned down a notch.
  4. Re: Roman FMs and their hatred for games/races

True, but you rarely need the boost, they often have 2-3 kids even when campaigning.
I've found I've had to turn down marriage request (unless the game focuses on one FM for marriage), to keep the...
  5. Re: Roman FMs and their hatred for games/races

Early game you should generally not keep your FMs in cities, unless they have a reason for being there. They need to be out in the field, preferably fighting.

I only keep them in cities if they...

    Re: Portraits Enhancement Project

Looks awesome! I'm making a portrait mod using Crusader Kings 2's system. It's gonna take some months to make all the cultures, but I think it's all right, if a little simple.

Re: What's EB team opinion on Imperator: Rome

Wish I felt like that, me and some friends are playing hotseat and we've had to install a music submod because none of us can't stand any of the music. It is authentic, but I feel like the quality is...

    Re: New Portraits?

I suppose you could create some yourself, using Crusader Kings 2's custom ruler editor for instance.
That way you can get both the young and the old look and it basically covers the same cultures.

Re: What "house rules" do you follow?

You can't in MTW2, war is initiated by an attack. You can however declare 'do X or we will declare war', which I think gives you less of a reputation hit, when you then do declare war.

Re: Roman campaign: Marian reforms triggers

It's automatic by turn 661, even if you have constructed no farms and have no FM with the trait.
It's sort of a backup plan

Even says so in the campaign script:

  12. Re: What's your acceptable casualty rate after a battle?

None, I love my men like my own children..

At least that's what I say in front of the men, in reality I'll roll with 100% if it furthers my goals.

Re: Bullgods Icons for Rome 2, adapted to EBII

As for spies and diplomats, that's fairly easy to fix yourself.

Unpack the folder for this mod and delete all the assassin.tga, diplomat.tga and spy.tga in the faction folders (f_aedui, f_arevaci,...

Re: What "house rules" do you follow?

My approach with experienced troops, is simply that they cannot be retrained in a city, but must be merged with fresh troops (thus loosing experience). If they do not engage in fighting, I simply...

Re: What "house rules" do you follow?

    Seems realistic Jurand.

I generally also play with Casus Belli, in that the enemy must either attack an ally or me, before I declare war.

If I play Rome or one of the Diadochi, I also play with...
  19. Re: Anyone have a semi-historical Roman save game with the Polybian reforms?

Lacking submods, or scripts maybe - did you edit the campaign script in any way Shadowwalker? (easier reforms etc)
  20. Re: Anyone have a semi-historical Roman save game with the Polybian reforms?

    I don't think I do, but I'll check within a day.

Edit: Nope, earliest is turn 400 + I've even tampered with the campaign files.
  21. Re: Making unit cards with MilkShape3D and GIMP 2

Hell, I made a submod just to get more uniform unit cards, but I'm switching to these when they're done! :)

They look really great! Kudos for taking the time and learning the skills to do it.

Re: Bullgods Icons for Rome 2, adapted to EBII

    Re: Newbie Question (Mercenary Generals)

It appears so, which seems odd, but it does have some historical truth to it - while Romans preferred a stable dynastic takeover when possible, it was a bit more chaotic with the outlying regions....
  25. Re: What was the point of Rome keeping many of it's poorer citizens?

  26. Re: What was the dominant social class of soldiers in the ancient era?

    Re: Newbie Question (Mercenary Generals)

Also, the client rulers are recruited in the cities - and only with that building, so once you upgrade, you have to 'reinstall' a regime (build it all over again) when the client ruler dies.

Do you mean the client rulers? those can be recruited once you build the 'allied state' building, the next after tributary.

  34. Re: How to make general's body guard units normal recruitable units without generals?

No idea, but taking the companion cavalry and the agema hoplites, is basically the same - their stats are close to being on par with the general unit.
