Well, the Rome Remastered is out and I gave it a good, honest look since I was pretty excited about it. Aaaand.... Feral has done incredible update work, but it made me remember what vanilla RTW...
Well, this was a surprise! Glad I kept Medieval II installed all these years in hopes of an update. I'll probably wait for a download mirror before proceeding, but I'm looking forward to it!

I would expect that given the amount of work that's been put in on EB2, there would be little interest in stopping it or moving to the remaster.
That said, I have to wonder what the engine...
Is it intended that every single faction be at war with every single faction, with a tiny handful of exceptions? I see it's scripted that way in descr_strat, but is it... supposed to be that way?...
Amazing! I’d given up hope for ever seeing another IB mod.
I especially love the thematic late antiquity UI and all the building/event/character art. It’s authentic to the vanilla RTW style but...
Looks like these imageshack images died a long time ago -- does anyone have a copy of them or is there a mirror to rehost? Much appreciated! :)
What a bizarre thing to happen! You are exactly correct -- for some reason I can't explain, I didn't have that dll in the folder but could pull it right out of the zip file for 5.2 and now everything...
No luck. Updated to the most recent version of .NET (4.8) and still getting that error. The full error message is attached. I'm running Windows 10.

Got a strange error while trying to run PFM 5.2.0:"System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'ObjectListView, Version=2.3.0.34060, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one...
The regular Meroe faction is present in the Augustus campaign (probably Empire Divided too, haven't checked) and it seems to be the emergent faction underneath the territory that Kush occupies in the...
From the changelog: "Added small chance of women political characters for most factions. Nomadic factions and the Medewi have small chance of women generals."
If we wanted to adjust that on our...
I saw some talk earlier about "rebalancing" or adjusting it but i think the female leader FLC is cool -- and like you said, reflects real history. :)
Cleopatra is the faction leader for...
New patchnotes look nice, though it's already painful seeing the old vanilla UI again. I'm looking forward to the future DEI update.
I'm hoping the female leaders FLC stuff remains -- as I've seen...
Really cool seeing the unit screenshots on the previous page, especially the Joviani/Herculiani/Praetorian shields. Now that's the stuff that I'm looking for, not the anachronistic Nota Dignitatum...
I think fancy horse guy is Aurelian. The radiate crown gives it away and matches his picture in the steam screenshot. I'm okay with the Emperor having fancy stuff -- it's not line equipment.

I do think the free update will be of a huge benefit to mods like DEI. Offline encyclopedia is amazing and the political improvements will be useful and can be further tweaked by DEI.
Consider...
Those wacky Hellenistic kings.
There, I fixed it. :p
Wonderful, thanks. Between this post and QS's detailed breakdown, it sounds like my answer is "try all three." Roma for the gameplay and changes, KH for the dynamism and complete roster, and Parthia...
Q: deciding which faction to go with first, Romani, KH, or Parthians. Which of those rosters is most
Complete? I'm guessing KH but am unsure.
Relatedly, I recall talk earlier about Italian AoR...
YES. Something for me to look forward to this evening....
Standing for election in absentia wasn't unheard of during the game's time period but it wasn't routine either. It occurred most often near the end of the timeline, though--when the Republic wasn't...
This is GREAT. One of the highlights of the mod is hearing all the units speak in their native languages, and the ones that were silent though they had voices in EB1 were noticeable.

Elite units are cool, certainly. I'm fond of some of them -- but I also enjoy visual variety. That's what makes the game fun.
Good. Honestly despite what I said earlier about looking forward to the trait/office aspects of Augustan reforms, the Italic units are way more important to any Roman (and non-Roman) campaign....
I'm interested in Augustan reforms but mostly for political/trait/naming purposes. The units are not different enough to matter much to me, even as a mostly Roman player. It's the offices and leader...
Oh, dang. And new bodyguards, too? Okay -- yeah, need to put this Roman campaign on pause and play somebody else, then. Maybe the Ptolemies will do.
What sort of units are we talking about, anyway? Sort of curious what allied troops you guys have in mind, since I'm trying for a more historical army composition in future games.
That would be cool, but who would that be?
Dang, okay. So two copies of the EB2 folder it is...
My understanding is that EBII patches are generally not save-compatible. With respect to 2.2b in particular -- I'm curious as to whether 2.2a saves will be playable, but obviously not implementing...
Where they're going, they don't need roads.
(sorry)
Interesting -- I putz around in custom battles often enough, so I'd be happy to see how things are working. Sign me up for either the Aetolian League or the Ptolemies. Or I guess I can provide...
Beautiful! I knew it was a smart idea to wait for 2.2 before getting back into EBII. It looks like there's a heck of a lot to look forward to.
Speaking of unit voices -- any chance the lack of...
Isn't that a little stereotypical? My understanding was that -- for example -- the satyr festivals and Dionysia originated from Spartan festivals, even though it was Athens that took it to the...
Yeah, those are just missing breathing marks -- smooth and rough breathing for the lack of "h" or presence of "h" sound.
There ARE sometimes random letters missing because of qualitative...
Dang -- new KH governments? They're who I was aiming to try a campaign as. Guess I'll sit tight for the moment and muck around with the Romans for a bit!
Fantastic. What would be the most historically accurate version for Charlemagne then -- the regular Oriflamme?
Oh, awesome! There's a surprise. Looking forward to seeing the new designs implemented.
No worries! Glad you're back to it. I'll keep an eye out from time-to-time for those pagan symbols.
