    Re: Trait yourself!

I remembered this thread from years ago, so I checked on it to see what I put. Oh wow, I gave myself the Uninhibited Trait! lol. :laughter: I picked up a few points in the antitrait "Prim" so that...

    Re: SSHIP - General Discussion

1560. About the same as regular Stainless Steel, although it is twice as many turns. I bet almost no one plays a campaign that long.

    Re: Useless and useful buildings

This thread is ancient, but these forums are less active now.

All the buildings are useful, I built what I need. Except I find higher level Taverns useless, the Coaching House and especially the...
  4. Sticky: Re: Managing buildings in Settlements with 24+ buildings

In my opinion the Food Administration building should be either cut or changed significantly. It is historical but unfortunately it is a very bad building, and the AI probably does not know that. I...
  5. Re: The thread for horrendous suggestions

Remake this mod with Napoleon Total War or Empire Total War.
  6. Re: SSHIP - General Discussion

Well, I don't there should be penalties for attacking cities on the way that are Muslim or Pagan, as long as they are still moving towards the target. Maybe penalties for attacking Orthodox, but the...
  7. Sticky: Re: HOME RULES that prevent exploiting the M2TW engine deficiencies

Oh no, I violated the commandments!

Is gifting regions to a vassal/ally an exploit in your opinion? I know you say neither buy nor sell regions, but what about gifting? I kind of see it as setting...
  8. Re: SSHIP - General Discussion

Crusades and Jihads are good mechanics but they are overpowered when used by the human player. This mod had a very good idea making them cost 3000 but in my opinion 3,000 is just not enough. I think...
  9. Sticky: Re: Managing buildings in Settlements with 24+ buildings

Consider merging the siege weapon building line and the upgraded tower line. The upgraded towers already require the siege workshop, so it could just be a continuation.

    Although you might be...

    Re: SSHIP - General Discussion

Well, maybe I've just too good at Medieval 2 because I've played for too long :D. I have all of Britain, almost all of France on turn 35. Southern Spain I will give to my vassal France, and try to...

A King can only be crowned in the region with the sword on the map, right? So for Scotland it would be Edinburgh? Or can he be crowned in another 'home' region, or region where the faction has...

    Re: Vassal thread

Here is another thing. As the Byzantines (or Romans) on turn 1, you can besiege the Serbians with 2 regiments from Nis. Then send your diplomat immediately to the Serbian general hiding in the woods....

    Vassal thread

Do you guys use vassals at all? I am playing as Scotland right now. I managed to be very aggressive early on and took over Britian. A little bit afterwards I marched into Flanders and took that as...
  17. Re: I need some creative feedback on my Lordship BG size sub mod.

Yes I understand 77 is the top cap.

10 is the bottom cap if I recall correctly. So if you have traits that say -100 BodyguardSize than the bodyguard will only replenish to 10.
  18. Re: Am i able to get man of the hour?

In siege battles you do not get Man of the Hour.

The reason is because Man of the Hour promotes a Captain to a General, but when a Captain enters a settlement he disappears.

    If your family...

    Re: SSHIP - General Discussion

It's probably a good idea to try to keep the Papal States weak, preferably powerless, when playing as a Catholic faction. If they are very strong and they just attack you there it is a bad situation....

    Re: Personal Loss Trait

The trait is called "Humane". BTW you must be playing Stainless Steel or some other mod, vanilla does not have that trait.

It is caused by too many bodyguards dying. I'm not sure the difference...

    Re: Merchant Mechanics

I've played this game for a decade and did not know that. Wow, great find!

I suspect that you still want your capital in or close to the center most of the time, but that can really make a...
  23. Re: Do Ships Block Armies Crossing Straits ?

Ships do block crossings that are 1 tile.

However, some mods have crossings that are multiple tiles; these do not seem to be blocked by ships.
  24. Sticky: Re: BGR-V 120719. Byg's Grim Reality (Supply & Command Series): Guides, Updates & Optional Extras

I agree with the poster more instead of Byg. I like this mod but I really think generals should have command stars. Yeah it makes the game easier but if generals don't get bonuses for...
  25. Re: What happens if you conquer Jerusalem?

Nope, I was wrong! The Triumph bonus is Nationwide!

When you succeed in a Holy War, all settlements get +30% bonus to public order, losing 5% per turn, until the bonus goes away. I also tested it...
  26. Re: SS 6.4 HRE H_H Campaign, 18 Turns In, Making 11K Per Turn With All Cities On Low Tax & 3 Full Stacks ?

For the Holy Roman Empire it is believable especially if you are strong and aggressive.

It is probably better to play on VH/VH and turn on the aggressive AI. This mod is more challenging than the...
  27. Re: What happens if you conquer Jerusalem?

Crusades and Jihads do not provide a nationwide public bonus. The "Triumph" bonus is only in the city conquered by the Crusade (and maybe the capitol, I'm not quite sure.) I would assume Jihads get...
  28. Re: What happens if you conquer Jerusalem?

I don't have a screenshot but that is what I remember. The vanilla grand campaign has this feature. +15% public order in every settlement from "Glory" and it does not go away.

    When a Crusading...
  29. Re: [I] - Watchtowers and forts in SSHIP

I don't really see the point of having forts that are 20000 gold coins. It might mess up the AI as well.

I think it was a good decision making watchtowers expensive; basically having watchtowers...

  31. Re: Are the Cumans really worth playing with?

I remember many, many years ago I read a great AAR story with the Cumans. It is one of the best ever made for Medieval 2.

    Re: Ireland submod ?

I think you'd find it very challenging if you have no experience. I've modified text files a bit. I would really struggle and need a lot of time.
  33. Re: [I] - Watchtowers and forts in SSHIP

It's a shame the AI is so bad at handling forts.

Another big issue is that the AI never sallies from a fort, ever. You could besiege any fort with 1 unit of peasants and starve out any army.
