I've been away from EB for a while. I was pretty surprised to see that it's come to this. If the AI won't garrison its cities, we'll just magically spawn a dozen plus units when the player attacks....
The AI will attempt to capture a city with only elephants as its siege weapon. After the AI forces combat, it just sits there and does nothing. You can speed up time and let the battle run for...
+1
It's just another artificial thing added to the game to compensate for the AI's appalling and irremediable lack of skill no both the campaign and battle maps.
Certainly communication must have been difficult, but any military unit acts a lot more autonomously than they do in a total war game. If a tank were going to roll over you at 1km/h you would know...
I have a Baktria campaign with CAI at the hardest setting. All of my neighbors have attacked me and money is always a problem. The AI fields huge stacks from factions that only own a few...
This could be hardware specific. My machine is nothing special and I don't have framerate problems.
In my 2.2b campaign, more than half my FMs have loyalty of 2 or less. Three of them have zero loyalty, and they are patrilineal with the starting FM roster! They can sit in the capital with the...
Ok, thanks, it must be because I have only 1 settlement capable of recruiting assassins.
Don't know if you'll take wikipedia as a source, but it would seem that Palmyra should be upgradable for the Seleukids:
In a Baktria campaign I have 1 assassin and I cannot recruit another because it says I have the maximum number of agents (2.2b). Is this working as intended?
No, regular campaign in "very hard." I'm just looking at the fanction rankings to see how much money they have. It's funny because they pay the ransom every time you offer it.
Compared to EB1, it can be frustrating to watch only the front rank of your soldiers charge into battle while the rest stand and do nothing.:(
The point is that it causes the AI to use stupid tactics. Whatever algorithm it's following gives the result that it's a good idea to charge spearmen head-on with cavalry.
2.2b AI finances.
It is turn 43. Saka has two nomadic camps and over 100,000 mnai. Their finances like look an exponential function!:laughter:
The cavalry charges are probably too high globally. The AI detects this and always goes for the frontal charge with its cavalry, usually with good effect. You can charge a unit of hoplites in guard...
AI repeatedly making the same mistake over and over again is what is silly. It's like a chess program that hangs its queen sometimes and you're telling people not to take capture the queen.
Or it's a bug!
To be sure, I reinstalled, deleted map.rwm, and started a new campaign. The old saved campaign has the same problem, even after destroying the buildings and rebuilding.
I've...
Of course I allowed the map generation to finish. I think something is messed up with the overly complicated interplay of military colonies and government types. I'm going to destroy them, rebuild,...
Playing with Pergamon, about turn 80, and recruitment in Byzantion is completley broken. The settlement has the Supervised Hellenic Administration government, military colony, and hellenistic...
(2.02a) Oh my god, that is the worst file hosting site I've ever seen. Whoever uses it should do a virus and malware sweep of their machine. Seriously, I love what you guys are doing with EBII, but...
Got the message saying I captured enemy hoplites and should be able to recruit them as mercenaries. However, no mercenary hoplites were available to recruit. If this feature is already stated to be...
Really?
That sums it up well. I've never seen other games where the combat physics gets worse over time instead of better.
It's OK not to buy games that aren't good. You don't have to buy just to...
That is disappointing because it means that you can never have a loyal, trustworthy FM. I prefer variety!
The problem is that the FM stats are almost always terrible to begin with. It hurts gameplay and roleplaying. If you have a change in your leadership you are forced to keep your FMs in cities, and...
Ok, things are as you say they should be, thank you.
Any changes to FM traits coming in 2.2? It's incredible how bad the FM stats can be, even when your FL has good authority. I have one general...
I'll check if what you say matches what I'm seeing in the game.
Not sure if it's been reported before:
After the 2nd thureos reform you lose the ability to recruit puppet governors in your allied settlements.
It was the ancient world equivalent of the DPRK.
Old thread and I missed the party, but...
I'm still very sad how the 2nd reform takes away the greek medium cavalry. The replacement has those ridiculous swords for charging and isn't much more...
The bug where Eastern Large Stone Walls cause an automatic ctd is back. I don't know if it's 2.1b or this patch.
Ok, so you think I can trust my allies when they do that? Good to know, thanks!
So, why does my ally march 3 full stacks into my territory and park them there? If nothing else, it certainly makes me nervous!
How about the AI behavior where it moves full-stacks into your territory without declaring war, without asking for military access, etc. Even your "allies" park huge armies in your territory just...
Wow, that is quite a change. I look forward to the result. Thanks!
The CAI isn't relieving sieges. Around 265BC I watched Epiros besiege Pella, and Makedonia had a full stack sitting in a minor settlement within spitting distance. The Makedonians never moved to...
Playing video games for a living must take all the fun out of it, and it must be terrible for your health.
This is the dumbest debate in the internet, premised on the fact that over/underhand are mutually exclusive for characters in a video game, so you have to pick just one. In combat you use the grip...
