I'm loving this aar/campaign/conflict. It's really interesting to see the feints, mistakes, and the good strategies, and that despite the size of your empires defeats can be quite costly!

Well! So, I've been gone a while (again), but here's my next couple of updates, along with some in-game background. I originally planned to write this AAR about Imagawa Ujizane since, surprise, I'm...
If the walking portion of my journey home was painfully boring, the ride under the Imagawa banner was excruciating. Every stride of the house jarred my mangled body and by the time we made it through...
I awoke.
I faded back into this reality of pain. Hell was... a small room and a ragged futon?
I turned on my side and nearly vomited from the agony of it, but there within my sight was...
I spent much of the next few months on horseback patrolling our boundary with the Imagawa, and much of the rest patrolling our borders with the Satake to the north and the Uesegi to the north-west....
I like the previous update, I thought the drunk lord would simply declare war but was pleasantly surprised. And the resolute fatalism of the messengers was well done as well.
Looking forward to...
Thanks mad orc. I mean, its kind of all blood money though. I'll drop by your aar soon, I have a comment to post but lifes been busy of late
Unusual to us, yes, but typical for the period. They served several purposes, one being to allow warriors to prove their achievements similar to other peoples like the Gauls, and another being to...
Thanks! I'm glad my attempts at conveying this smaller scale are working out
Chapter 5: Victory
Iwamoto Kennosuke: protagonist
Hiraoka Sadakata: comrade, a thin, clever man
Goda Ietsuna: comrade, a very large, strong man
Yukiyama Koan: comrade
Iwamoto Sen:...
Thanks mad orc, more of the same in the next battle... when we get to it
theSilentKiller: Yes, I just follow a single unit around the battlefield to limit it to the characters perspective. I do...
Thanks Alwyn, and Beckitz. There'll be an examination of the state of the world in the next couple updates. I am indeed trying for a character like that, although I will admit that I have not...
I think that part of what the newer games problem is that they lack the personalized characters that Rome I (where I started) through Shogun II, albeit S2 to a lesser extent. You have a general who...
Chapter 4 part 2
Iwamoto Kennosuke: protagonist
Hiraoka Sadakata: comrade, a clever man
Goda Ietsuna: comrade, a very large man
Yukiyama Koan: comrade
Iwamoto Sen: Kennosuke's younger...
Thanks to the both of ya, I've finished moving yet life is still somewhat chaotic. I'll try to have an update, hopefully to finish this battle, by mid-week
I'm trying my best to keep too much time...
I like the incorporation of the poetry and reference to heaven, it adds a nice atmosphere. Also pretty cool to see a rots aar!
Thank you Caillagh, SilentKiller, and Darkan. Hopefully this resolves the cliffhanger! I'll probably just add a glossary to each chapter so it's more accessible, along with a cast of characters....
Chapter 4: An End to Youth
Iwamoto Kennosuke: protagonist
Hiraoka Sadakata: comrade
Goda IEtsuna: comrade
Yukiyama Koan: comrade
Iwamoto Sen: Kennosuke's younger sister
Wow, I like this idea a lot. And it's cool that already we can see different"faction leaders" having different priorities. I'd be interested in having a go at it
Btw I can see the pics
So, ah, my aforementioned issues are continuing, and on top of that I'm moving! But I managed to get some time to wright and to go back through my battle replays and harvest these pics, so here we...
Chapter 3: Invasion
Looks like I;m finally ready to post again, haha.... :paperbag::ninjagun:
Sometimes when it rains it pours, and often then rivers will greedily surge over their banks and...
Haha, well in my experience reckless youth had been known to discount doctors' orders...
And we are indeed in the calm before the storm
Chapter 2, part 2/2
To be honest I was a little jealous of my new friends. New because although we had been living and working together for some time, Morokage and Yukiyama Koan had grown up...
Thank you NorseThing and Axis- I've been doing some reading on Japanese horsemen, and their smaller horses seem like they might make overstraining then much more of an issue. Except for (arguably)...
Thanks Callaigh!
Chapter 2
Chapter 2: Messages
In the time that I had been working for Sugenoya-sama, the balance of power in Japan had noticeably shifted. The Takeda were embroiled in a...
Thanks Alwyn, NorseThing. I don't have a map yet (I'm writing this with my laptop, no access to my PC at the moment) but I figured I'd post the intro anyways:
Chapter 1: Humble Beginnings
The...
Hello all! It's been a while, but I've got a new AAR that I'm ready to write. I've actually had this idea for a few months, but the demands of graduating and acquiring a job meant that I needed to...
Heavy losses, but that seems like an important victory. I wonder how Franz will replace his veteran troops?
Ah, is that what that tugging sensation was? :laughter:
I've gone and started playing a campaign in both games, and while I've got something that could develop into a story for FoTS, I've...
Sounds like a good enough reason to me and I was having a hard time deciding. Looking forward to seeing what you do!
Thanks, its good to be back!
Thanks mad orc, but it looks like...
Just re-read this through from the beginning, it's all looking quite good. It was nice to see Boudicca's confusion when seeing the ancient Briton warriors for the first time again, and it seems as...
Soooo... I've been gone awhile, thinking about some S2 writing, either as a common soldier for or against the Imagawa, or in a FOTS campaign a la the Last Samurai.
Dec 25.
Osric is an oaf; he might have the strength to keep us safe, but O! how I wish for a dashing man like Arthwr, who has been called back from the Continent and has halted the Southern Seax,...
He'll have an interesting life alright, and Seaxneatings like Freawulf always mean trouble! I'll have a more detailed map up in a few updates as well
Added this into post 12, December 22 because I missed this important plotpoint regarding the bloodfeud: “No sooner have I learned the nature of my husbands’ quarrel than it is over! Men! Fifty years...
Slow going, so I'm going to put up what little I've got so far...
June 28, 489
So much has happened over the span of the last six months. I will admit to feeling sometwhat detatched to the...
Yeowch, has it been a month since I've updated? I'll try to pop something up either today or tomorrow
I've been having a lot of fun writing with Aeronwen's dry sense of humor, so thank you...
Thanks everyone! I've just finished another round of testing and so here is the next bit:
December 22
Osric has returned, flushed with victory in the north.
In other news, they say Hlodowig...
Nov 22 487
My Lord Husband Osric has been successful in sending the raiders off, glory to him. Now he’s tailing them to the north.
In any case Elffled has told me what, or rather who, a...
