  1. Re: Is anyone else feeling a bit jaded with Total War?

    Indeed.
  2. Re: Is anyone else feeling a bit jaded with Total War?

Very much so. While the battles are good I feel the campaigns lacks depth. Adding in logistics, supply lines, manpower and the ability to build forts to control strategic points would be great.

    Re: Are you pre-ordering?

There has been some issues with DLC if you don't get the game via steam. I ordered the LE edition via amazon and didn't get the DLC code.
  6. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

The game was originally slotted in for October/November 2018, which was stated back in July. However as observed at the time and since, this was an unrealistic target.
  7. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

An 11-week delay? Ah well its better that they take the time to get it right.
  8. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

I liked the blood effects in Medieval 2 that would increase the more a unit was fighting, and it wasn't overdone.
  9. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

Is this the dearest TW game to date?
  10. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

Rome II initially had capture points in battles until they were removed in the first patch I believe.

If naval battles are added later as a DLC that would be bad form.
  11. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

It might be too much micromanagement for some but I personally would like to see more done on individual army units and the captains leading them. It would be good to see them develop over each...
  12. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

There was a backlash against capture points in battles when they were planned for Rome 2.

I personally like the idea of having baggage trains and army camps that could be attacked during battle,...
  13. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

I remember when Medieval 2 was announced, in an interview the developers stated that weather and battlefield conditions would have an impact on how they were fought. They mentioned muddy fields...
  14. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

I don't think the battles are ever really going to change. I was hoping for larger-scale engagements for this setting. Not sure a new game engine will change things although I would say its overdue...

    Re: Gameplay Videos

    I wasn't aware that mining was in-game, so that's a plus.

Siege weapons like the trebuchet were used to fire burning material or dead animals to inflict damage rather than kinetic energy against...

    Re: Gameplay Videos

This was why I was hoping for siege escalation that simulated mining etc instead of trebuchets that can knock down walls in 3 minutes.
  17. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

Yep, it seems like a solid game. There are one or two 'arcade' type elements that I would rather were not there, but overall it is looking like a very good game.
  18. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

Overall it's shaping up quite nicely. I see that armies can move onto rivers and sail around, rivers also seem more of an obstacle this time, which is good.
  19. Re: Pre-Roman Scottish architecture and towers: the brochs

The oldest dates for the Brochs that I have seen is the period 600-400BC. Where does the 3000BC come from?

Steam price same as limited edition

I noticed that the steam price is the same as the limited edition price. Will the steam price drop or does it make sense to buy the limited edition?
  23. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

Do we know yet if hard copies of the game will be sold apart from the limited edition?

Also, what are the best books covering the military history of this period?

I am not a fan of Total War sieges. I would rather that it took at least two turns to damage the wall enough for you to then launch a final assault on the battle map, allowing for a relief army to...

Having no naval battles is a little disappointing but fleets will still be in the game and play a somewhat vital role.

Re: ''Mod out or not play'' controversy

    Interesting.

Maybe CA should, oh I dunno, stick to making games, ignoring trolls and engage better with their fans?

    I wouldn't rule out a hoax though.

Female generals have been out since March, the review bombs only came with the poor attitude from Ella.

So its nothing to do with men not liking women, it was the attitude from Ella.

So instead of ignoring a number of trolls, elements of CA instigated a flamewar. What triggered Ella and is she best to be in her current position?

In any other company she would be sacked.

I noticed that in the Mediterranean, particularly northern Italy, there is a strong and growing Britannic culture presence. Some as low as 6%, other at 20%.

I doubt they will expand the map in any future DLC. If they do a DLC campaign it will most likely a Norman Invasion and conquest campaign, other DLCs will be units etc.
