    You can't upgrade beyond Stronghold. That is done on purpose. If you unlock citadels and fortresses in the EDB, then you will start building custom settlements where they don't belong.

    Ancillaries are transferable at all times. Just have two general sin the same army and you can drag and drop ancs between them. (Note some ancillaries cannot be transferred).

    I think they do get an extra tier of smithing but it comes from the level 3 blacksmith. You don't need to build another smith, your existing ones just upgrade their technique. :)

    The relentless trait is hellishly OP. In a recent test, GGC beat a unit of snaga 1v1 and wiped them out whilst only losing 5 men.

    They might be given more men but I highly doubt it.

    As Elves, you usually only get 1 and then 2 units per building. Some key settlements might have larger garrisons but in the 'normal' settlements it should be 1 and 2. :)
