He means that you can't really play historically because none of your opponents do. The factions that were historically your greatest allies stop at nothing to destroy you.

Mods or BI?
If there is an enemy agent (spy, diplomat, assassin) or a friendly agent that worries you, bring an army out to him, and surround him with one unit each on all 8 sides (it may be less if he is next...
Makes no sense that they can't enter a city. If I have ammo left, why can't I move in and bombard the center? Stupid. The openings are big enough; they would fit. Stupid.
Agreed. Makes up for weak Greek armies (minus hoplites). AMAZING to have in Egypt/Africa if you are a phalanx army.
The scipii get in to Carthage quite fast, generally, from what I've seen. Julii usually expand fairly quick into Gaul. Brutii have it the toughest, as they have to fight Greece, so they don't usually...
Make sure you actually block the flanks on the map. If you just make steep hills, they can still be climbed, resulting in a rather short battle. Need cliffs/rocks to block them. Sounds cool though!
There are different unit sizes. For example, cavalry units have less men, while peasants and some infantry have more. Some cohort units have more than the standard number.
You coordinate the music and the video really well. Like when you switch from showing the Gauls to showing the Romans, and the change in the music. Love it! Feels very epic overall.
Unless I am mistaken, to start the civil war you need popularity with the people, so it would appear the people are more valuable in the end. For a while, though, if you complete Senate missions,...
You can flank Spartans with cavalry. If you have them occupied on the front, and charge into their rears with heavy cav and nothing happens to the Spartans, you screwed up somewhere. It is hard to...
I recently made the switch from M2 to Rome. I think Rome is much, much better (although it has undergone more patching).
Actually many people think that too. When you think of Rome, you think red, so it makes sense. Check the "favorite faction" poll that is stickied. A lot of people say Julii for the color.
Love the Boondock Saints music! Cool!
Civ has a greater depth (especially 3 and 4) and is more difficult. If you haven't played Civ, it is essentially the same as the turn-based portion of TW (I know, there are differences, I am a Civ...
The only problem with making sieges so costly for the player that they need triple the numbers to attack is that I don't think ANYBODY likes fighting with reinforcements. You cannot coordinate your...
I just love the feel of having one (or however many) armies on campaigns, and tracking the core units throughout their travels. In RTW as Greece, I eventually built up an army of 13 single silver...
Nobody here is allowed to talk about any ways to get a copy of the game, regardless of whether or not you truly do have a legal copy. Unfortunately, I do believe you will need to go elsewhere for...
Trenches would be simply impossible. He does do a good job of comparing M2 with its WWI counterpart. However, they didn't march in neat battle lines in WWI all that often... And men would need to...
I do believe they withdrew that promise and held off for the expansion.
I love the sound and sight of cannons that are far off. Like, the first volley into an enemy just after they come into range. The dull roar of the cannonfire, and the distant muzzle flashes...
If you are referring to the bonuses/penalties received by Cavalry and Missile units:
Missile units being less accurate is obvious-they can't see. A cavalry charge bonus possibly reflects some...
We aren't allowed to mention another possible course of action. So nobody do it. By another, I mean that one
It helped that Cortez appeared to the Aztecs to be more god-like than human, what with his horse (they had none) and his facial hair (they had none). Not to mention the fact that the Aztecs were...
Agreed. The importance of a ram can be easily summed up with a fairly common example: You are defending a city, and are outnumbered soundly. You have a few good infantry units and maybe some...
I have never seen a witch. Could someone post a screenshot? lol
Isn't the withdraw button disabled if you are out of movement points, though? So how would he withdraw in the first place?
Why do you attack a settlement and go only through the gate? That is my question. But I see your point. If the AI sees you with one ram at the gate, they should move all their forces to defend...
Gotta go with the Greek Cities. I love phalanx fighting. Once you get the hang of dealing with limited maneuverability, hoplites are very effective. On top of that, the higher level hoplites fight...
The Greeks rule if you master fighting in a phalanx (both the abilities and patience required).
Problems are commonly so complex these days, we sometimes overlook the simple reboot :)
Not sure about screenshots. Never did get around to figuring out/reading how they work. Search for a thread about them that will give you their location, and you can delete them there. Have you...
Lusted is right: The graphics and sound guys have no job left in M2. But there are still coders that they could divert to bug fixing. It would take a lot of coders (much more than they have right...
YES! That is sort of what I do too. I usually have 3 1/2 to 4 stacks. I always have a stack of medium units, a good balance cost and defensive stats, for garrison duty. I also have a stack made up...
Normally it's a good cavalry unit for me, but since even with their powerful charge, cavalry are bugged, I can't use them without giving them about a quarter mile to charge.
I have found doing the same test that I generally get more kills with normal arrows. What type of archers did you use, and what type of enemy units were you firing at?
I would imagine that as...
If you have a 1.0 or 1.1 campaign, you can continue it on 1.2. Even if you have 1.1, and then you reinstall to vanilla 1.0 (just don't tell it to delete your saved games if/when it asks), then patch...
Setting the video settings to low doesn't hurt. It doesn't matter how good your card is, lowering graphics will increase performance, unless your performance is limited by something else like...

That tells how to autorun the game. If you want to switch who you control, type in console (w/o quotes) "control <faction>" for...
