    The crash is probably caused by running an old version of expansion limiter. It should be fixed now. Try updating it and report if it still happens.

    I'm beginning to have some outnumbered naval victories. It feels like a semi-cheaty way to flush a bunch of enemy units. Even if I lose, they take massive losses.

    Yes they do. I think the reasoning behind that is balancing. You wouldn't have very many units that required patricii otherwise, and the system would be pointless if it doesn't limit you in any way....
