Sticky: Re: Fans suggestion thread for future releases

So, let's say I wish to "preserve" the availability of Thracian or Illyrian rosters IN their native provinces...I'll have to go with sticking with tributary governments?

Shoebopp, Supervised Hellenic Administration also gives a good native roster selection right?

Sticky: Re: Fans suggestion thread for future releases

Quintus, connected to the post that Shoebopp posted, how the heck does one know what path to take in developing a province? Playing as Makedonia, in the early game you can't even view the "top-tier"...
  4. Re: Was the sarissa/pike really so ineffective in inflicting casualties on the foe?

Unfortunately Hellenikon, this balancing act has turned the phalanx into something it was certainly not - a static meatshield. How about slightly (by 1-2 points only - representing the base attack...
  5. Re: Was the sarissa/pike really so ineffective in inflicting casualties on the foe?

Ampe211, if you can actually present reliable sources to the EB2 team IF they ask, they might (a tiny tiny chance), just might add armor piercing or even increase the crappy attack values of most...
  6. Re: Was the sarissa/pike really so ineffective in inflicting casualties on the foe?

Shoebopp, thanks for that suggestion, but I feel it kind of ties in in to what I was talking about - that the (previous) perception of the phalanx negatively colors its actual performance as...
  7. Was the sarissa/pike really so ineffective in inflicting casualties on the foe?

We all know the the EB2 dev team's official stance on phalanxes in the time period the game is set in. That they were but a shadow of their predecessors in Alexander's day, that they fought with the...

Sar1n, but they DO have killing power. Just turn off their guard mode.

  10. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

Oh, so this particular error will not trouble people playing 3.5? Contemplating a lengthy campaign for 3.5, so I really hope, considering the current version, that the release is finally stable. Not...
  11. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

I'm seriously considering tweaking movement a bit to match a more historical pace for armies, fleets, agents, and envoys. Somewhere around an action point value that will "simulate" infantry moving...

Thanks the heavens...javelin cavalry are a threat now (acting as ranged cavalry)!!
  13. Re: Is there ever a downside to Hellenizing a province?

Ok, last follow-up question: what then is the point of foreign military colony in the context of the western hellenistic kingdoms? If supervised hellenic administration is the more or less "ideal"...
  14. Re: Is there ever a downside to Hellenizing a province?

I guess this is kind of in line with the whole topic...what is the best "build" for a province (that's not gong to become a capital or semi-capital) where you want to get the best possible native...

Quintus, to clarify, against other enemy cavalry. My point being that Hannibal's Numidians harrying and wearing down Roman equites till they broke them (in conjunction with a rear attack by Hispanic...
  17. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R2 released!

Jav cav...are still really useless. If talking purely about their ability to do damage with projectiles, it is close to nothing. As screeners, or bait they do far better.
  18. Re: [Submod] Enhanced Campaign Movement for EBII 2.35A R2

I've made a personal use submod inspired by this one - I applied a factor of 3.25 to all "starting action points". If compared to real life, this means infantry moves at around 10 km per day, cavalry...
  19. Re: What exactly is the intended role of the Thorakitai?

Victor1234, I can't quote this word by word from an accredited source, but terms like taxeis, lochoi, mora...they are just general unit and subunit designations. I know that the Spartans divided and...
  20. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R2 released!

Posted this in the wrong section, haha. Will there be a changelog listing the most striking or vital changes of R3 (which will hopefully be out very soon)? Just like, up to 5 bullet points or...
  21. Re: What exactly is the intended role of the Thorakitai?

Was chainmail really so superior in quality and cost-efficiency compared to other armors used at the time? I mean what were the general-use torso protective gear before the advent of the gaulish...
  22. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R2 released!

You must be talking about uhmm (again how do you spell them) the pantada...pandata...the eastern levy phalanxes right? The ones available to the "eastern" hellenistic kingdoms? Because, from personal...
  23. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R2 released!

Oh yeah has the EBII team finally at least acknowledged the better performance of phalanxes with guard mode off? I mean kills to casualties ratio-wise, they objectively do better yes?
  24. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R2 released!

z3n's cai updates, nabatu development, skalpinai (that how you spell them?)....hrghhh R3 come forth!!

Re: Accursed Grey Blob Turn Hanging

Fixed the problem. For script hangups like this - looking at you dispossessed faction scripts - DO NOT PUT EBII IN WINDOWED BORDERLESS MODE. Good ol' fullscreen gets you through.
  28. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R2 released!

Also yes, the horde emergence script DEFINITELY was the culprit. The Nabatu became dispossessed nomads once turn 78 started.
  29. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R2 released!

Solved the problem. DO NOT PUT EBII IN WINDOWED BORDER-LESS MODE. The turn eventually progressed. After some time. A long time...but at least it didn't hang.
  30. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R2 released!

Lusitanio, this is a bit late, but how did you fix that particular problem? Going back a couple of turns just delays the whatever is causing the hanging in my game.

  32. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R2 released!

The Numidians turned into a horde ages ago. Maybe the imminent destruction of the Nabatu in my campaign is the trigger? However...though they are down to one city, I think it'll take a few more turns...

  36. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R2 released!

Well, about to destroy Nabatu? The problem is damned hard to figure 'cause it seems to have multiple factors. This is what I noticed. If I make an alliance with the Getai as Macedon...the next turn...
  37. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R2 released!

Another observation....it might be on the Greek turn or the Seleukid. It sucks cause they follow one after the other. Again the log as follows:
