For some reason AI merchants in my campaign face away from the camera when they make it to a resource. Anyone know how to fix this?

Try disabling your anti-virus during installation. I had similar problems installing games with Panda Anti-virus.

If you change the unit size to small the carts and ships go away on the campaign map.

There is also a way to start a campaign with normal size units, save, back out then change unit size to small....

Running Retrofit 1.0 on GOTY edition.

It's not a big deal but for some reason when a cpu faction's merchant makes it to a resource he spins to look away from the screen instead...

Get yourself the Retrofit mod and change turn length to 0.50 so each turn is half a year.
