Re: Games i would like to see

I believe one argument against fantasy setting is the trouble with Licence. CA was able tot find an agreement with GW for TW Warhammer but there is no certainty it could do the same with whoever...
  2. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

I have double checked the release date of main titles and their first campaign DLC :

    - TW Rome 2 was released on the 2nd September 2013. Caesar in Gaul was released on the 17th December 2013. --->...
  3. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

I think factions DLCs and Campaign DLCs are too different beasts.

Factions DLCs are usually unpopular when they are released shortly after the main game. As I remember people were unhappy about...
  4. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

Imo the main problem with the Eight Princes DLC is how quickly it was released after the main game. It was far too early and felt very much like a scam.

I mean come on, I had not the time yet to...
  5. Sticky: Re: Total War Saga: TROY announced! (trailer, screens & campaign map video)

With Rome 2 main campaign, Caesar in Gaul, Hannibal at the Gate, Rise of the Republic and Wrath of Sparta I feel like CA exploited enough going ever backward in setting where warfare was primitive...

A lot of good point by Spitfire-WONDERBOLT! A agree with most of what you said. Additionally the campaign map design is bizarre. Many commanderies have odd shapes, have settlements all over the...

  8. Sticky: Re: Total War Saga: TROY announced! (trailer, screens & campaign map video)

Intriguing. loved Trojan campaigns in old RTS such as Empire Earth or Age of Mythology but mostly for the long narrative missions.

However I am not sure if the setting could translate well in the...

Re: The Popularity of Three Kingdoms

The game looks good but it is difficult to get into it. The UI looks brilliant but it is rather ineffective and frequently obscurs more than it explains. So it's a pretty big failure here as an UI...
  10. Sticky: Re: Total War Saga: TROY announced! (trailer, screens & campaign map video)

Same feeling here. Atm I am more hype about a post Middle Age setting than anything else. That or Warhammer 3.

In all honesty I find the Hellenistic Era far more interesting, fascinating,...

    Re: Uplay+ Subscription Service

Yersterday the service was launched with a free month period to try it. At least on paper.

  12. Re: Is anyone else feeling a bit jaded with Total War?

What do you find so great about this constraint ?
  13. Re: Is anyone else feeling a bit jaded with Total War?

The biggest trouble for me is the campaign mode. I struggle to keep interest in a campaign after 50 turns.

Three Kingdoms is a nice game but paradoxically I miss the simplicity of Warhammer II.

Re: Imperator: Rome - new Paradox title

I gave a quick look to Paradox road map for Imperator Rome.

In all honesty, I feel like their planned change will only make things worse. I doubt they can replace the mana system of the game with...
  15. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

One of my main interrogation is the UI. To me it looks difficult use but the 3/4 reviewers I watched said it is good/ok even if it is sometimes bloated. And to be fair it is difficult to judge an UI...
  16. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

Video games are one of the few industries where many customers accept robbing, if they do not justify it.

Day 1 DLC are frauds period.

  17. Re: CA confirmed there will be no more delay for 3K

  18. Poll: Re: Did You Know European Tradition of Chivalry Originated from the Middle East?

You obviously know nothing about medieval Islamic History. So stop blabbering about nonsense and going off topic with Roman History, Charlemagne, Obama or what not.

  19. Poll: Re: Did You Know European Tradition of Chivalry Originated from the Middle East?

You have it backward about crusade and jihad. It is largely admitted that the notion of armed jihad was slowly "reactivated" in reaction to the Christian's crusade.

    For indeed the seljukides...
  20. Poll: Re: Did You Know European Tradition of Chivalry Originated from the Middle East?

Indeed, chivalrous ideals are a core part of the Mu'allaquat literature based on figures like 'Antar of the Banu 'Abs.

There is no reasons to believe the Islamic Civilization needed to "borrow"...

Re: Imperator: Rome - new Paradox title

It is a bad game. I have only 18 hours in it yet I already feel meh about it.

240 for infantry is still too small imo.

I play R2 with a x2 unit size mod I did for myself. It means infantry is usually 320 strong, skirmishers are 240 strong and cavalry is 160 strong. Imo it...

Re: New SAGA #2 (after ToB)

  33. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

The game look bad. I can hardly believe a AAA game with this kind of graphics can be released in 2019. Even the venerable Rome Total War (2004) had better animations. What happened ?
  34. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

The new delay is worrisome to say the least.

A game getting two consecutive delays including one so closed to release date is in general a very bad sign.

  37. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

    Nope.

20 units of +300 is not harder to manage than 20 units of 120 men. It is actually easier.

You want an other proposition ? How about combined arms units ?

    Don't play dumb. There are...
  38. Sticky: Re: New Historical total war era - Total War: Three Kingdoms!

In many different way. Just be inventive about it.

For a start larger units would change the battles. Just try R2 or Warhammer with ×2 larger units. Thé battles feel significantly different.
