  1. Re: Questions! Questions that need answering!

There were no "happy provinces" in reality, that's the point. There were always simmering tensions that could blow up at any time, along with cross-border raiding by nearby nomads, tribes and...
  2. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

That's only true of infantry. Cavalry work perfectly fine with two melee weapons.
  3. Re: Questions! Questions that need answering!

Every region, irrespective of it's happiness, with the exception of your starting capital, has a chance of a revolt (which is low and has a "cooldown" so it can't happen turn after turn). This script...
  4. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

I've linked the changelog a number of times, it's up to date with R3.5.

Even if R4 is coming, the difference between v2.35 and v2.35A R3.5 is huge.

    Poll: Re: In-Depth Unit Analyses

However, if your garrison is ever called upon to fight on the battlemap, no unit is better value for money than the Hoplitai Haploi.

Sticky: Re: Fans suggestion thread for future releases

The only thing that changed were the people at the top as the Makedonians replaced the Persians. That and the civil service/military class immediately below them. For the ordinary person, life...

Sticky: Re: Fans suggestion thread for future releases

Because the Foreign Colony represents more than just the Persian model of settling outsiders. That's also why it doesn't raise Eastern Imperial outside of the former Persian Empire (or in Egypt,...

Sticky: Re: Fans suggestion thread for future releases

Just on this point, culture-linked recruitment is a non-starter. I'm trying to remove that last vestige of it in the socit precisely because it doesn't work very well as a mechanic. Culture changes...

    Re: EBII Minus

Not necessarily. Still collecting small tweaks and changes, we'll see whether they're material enough for a genuine final release.
  10. Sticky: Re: v2.35A R3.5 has been released - please do NOT report any bugs if you are playing with previous versions

Pergamon doesn't pay tribute, they have soldiers tithed. The Galatian raids are random. And the colonist script will pop up every turn you have colonists until turn 64, when the notifications stop.
  11. Re: Was the sarissa/pike really so ineffective in inflicting casualties on the foe?

Pikes threaten an area, they do not threaten individuals. Which is why the Gauls facing Ptolemy Keravnos were able to circumvent his phalanx by rolling under the pikes and getting inside their reach....
  12. Re: Was the sarissa/pike really so ineffective in inflicting casualties on the foe?

A pike phalanx, especially a dense one, is undirected. Most of the men in the ranks can't see the enemy, they're effectively running through a drill to keep the threat level up.

    That's completely...

Sticky: Re: Fans suggestion thread for future releases

Actually, spawn rates in the revolts script went down after R1.

Not quite, there is still a Troublesome/non-Troublesome distinction in the revolts script, those 17 provinces have a higher...
  14. Re: Some impressions playing 47 turns as Seleucids in 2.35A R3.5

As has been stated, Kush is a categoric no. We don't have the culture slots or additional map regions spare to make them a worthwhile faction choice.
  15. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

The only unit missing from their regional roster are the Carpathian Skaplinai (axemen). Their new elites are due an armour upgrade.

Sticky: Re: Fans suggestion thread for future releases

Quite simply, no. The revolts script is a pretty simple, but long, single-monitor script. Adding any of those sorts of nuances would hugely complicate it. If it's too frequent it can be reduced, but...
  17. Re: Rad compares units - a thread for balancing.

Regional and they look to be a later evolution of the Kardaka. Spearmen, big shields and helmets, no missiles at all.
  18. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

    It's in the original post, it's the post-patch file. It's R3.5.
  19. Re: Rad compares units - a thread for balancing.

The Parthian Thureophoroi are still to come, but I suspect they'll be javelin and spear, rather than bow and spear.
  20. Re: Rad compares units - a thread for balancing.

    They're a Hellenised/settler unit.
  21. Re: Was the sarissa/pike really so ineffective in inflicting casualties on the foe?

It's been left on, for the reason Hellenikon stated. AI levy phalanxes get murdered with it off.
  22. Re: Can't get the Getai reform to happen (the protectors event especially)

You both misunderstood. You don't have to fight the raids on the battlemap, but you will only get the smaller tribute amount.

You are not required to fight the invasion on the battlemap, but if...
  23. Re: Can't get the Getai reform to happen (the protectors event especially)

The only thing that requires you to fight battles on the battlemap are the Skythai Raids. As in none of them will get you the big tribute if you autocalc them.

The script does not end if you...
  24. Re: Rad compares units - a thread for balancing.

Unless there's a hardcoded effect where the bigger horse models are faster by default than the pony models, I don't know what to tell you.
  25. Re: Rad compares units - a thread for balancing.

They're exactly the same speed as the Hippeis, and slower than the Xystophoroi. Slower than any skirmisher or light cavalry units.

Could this be a function of their smaller units being faster to...
  26. Re: Siraces Riders replaced by Bosporan Horse Archers in the Caucasus?

The Bosporan Horse Archers also represent a Caucasian heavier horse archer unit - that's why they have a Hayastan skin.
  27. Re: Rad compares units - a thread for balancing.

Uh no. It's a placeholder model, there are no plans to have multiple different units for the same thing. The point is it's not the finished version of the unit.
  28. Re: Sakan Tribal Revolt - Does it punish you to leave?

It was changed. It's supposed to allow you to abandon your settlements, rather than fight lots of stacks.
  29. Sticky: Re: v2.35A R3.5 has been released - please do NOT report any bugs if you are playing with previous versions

When you have more than 20 units available (reinforcement battles), if you opt not to allow them to be AI-controlled, then they won't enter the battle until one of your starting units has routed or...
  30. Sticky: Re: v2.35A R3.5 has been released - please do NOT report any bugs if you are playing with previous versions

I can't see your UI, but I'm guessing you had more than 20 units available and had them all on manual control?
  31. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

What faction are you playing as? Have the cavalry changes been particularly noticeable and impacted your recruitment choices and usage of cavalry in battle?
  32. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

It's not technically new, instead they've reverted to their original bodyguard, with the previous one added as an armour upgrade and very visible sign of Hellenisation. Though they did get a change...

The only "punishment" is that you're turned into a horde.

  35. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

It's not a fatal error that will stop a game, just an annoying message that will run for certain factions in that eastern corner until the script ends.

I am keeping an eye out for all these things...
  36. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

No, the repeated message isn't fixed in 3.5, but I did identify what was causing it. The Alan raids should be spawning, unless they're on an invalid tile - it's one message but six different...
  37. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

    You are playing R3.5, right?

The control part of that script is outside the loop that spawns the stacks. The stacks will only spawn once, but the message will keep coming. There should be four...
  38. Re: Government buildings of the Massylians increase culture only up to 30 percent?

Kyrene will give you hoplites, eastern Iberia "scutarii" infantry, Italy has various infantry options.
  39. Sticky: Re: Announcement: Europa Barbarorum II 2.35A R3.5 released!

They're not equivalents at all. The Pedites Extraordinarii are an elite that comes from all Italian regions. The Cohors Sociorum are a regular unit that replace the Samnites. Note the "Samnite" unit...
