On the topic of weird trait behaviour, I've had a few years in my Roman campaign where I have more than two consuls. One year I counted six in total. Is there anything that can be done about this?
In my current Roman campaign I'm finding myself usually going with oligarchic for the better cavalry. I don't generally need more heavy infantry in my armies for obvious reasons.
That said, I do...
The problem with secondary colours is that the minimap shows the borders of each territory within a faction which IMO is ugly.
^ This. In a faction's immediate sphere of influence corruption is often easy to minimise but further out it can quickly pile up. I've definitely seen a settlement's income effectively negated by it,...
The screenshots are saved in the main M2TW game folder for me, at least.
Apparently the AI likes alternate history as well because in my current Gondor campaign Rohan allied with Enedwaith. Enedwaith attacked me, and Rohan apparently liked them more than me because they...
Re-name this thread "The thread for great suggestions".
I seem to remember an Augustan armour upgrade for Marian legionaries being discussed as a possibility at some point.
That said, I'm happy just with getting Praetorians eventually. It could easily...
Lovely :)
I could never really work out what looked wrong about the old ones. They always seemed "off" somehow.
These ones look miles better.
Interesting regarding cataphracts charging at the trot. Is there some further reading I could do on this?
Is eagle-capturing for Marian 1st Cohorts a current or planned feature? This was a cool extra detail in Rome 1 that IMO enhanced immersion nicely.
I only have an issue with garrison scripts that spawn a bunch of units that couldn't reasonably be mustered in great numbers on short notice. Glad that's not the case with EB2. :)
Development is indeed meant to be rather slow compared with vanilla. Remember that this is 4 turns per year and EB2 covers roughly 300 years of history. Take it slow, consolidate as you go.
Holy shizballs why did I only just now notice that EB2 has facial animation on various units? That's awesome!
It's a travesty that polybolephant isn't in the dictionary already. Oxford take note!
As always, I'm drooling over the shield textures on everything. Stunning.
Oooh! I really like these! Definitely my favourite interpretation of Gondor militiamen presented to date. I always did like the look of the vanilla Third Age Gondor militia, and it was a pet peeve of...
I order my hastati to charge in checkerboard. This produces fairly large gaps in my line, but this is not a problem. This produces good targets for the principes to engage when it's their turn. Thus,...
Be aggressive. Hit them hard with skirmishers as early on as possible. Charge rather than receiving one. The closer they are to enemy lines when they run amok, the better. I ended up scoring a heroic...
As to a drawn-out-conflict scenario, never underestimate the Romans' ability (and willingness) to throw thousands more men into the fray. At least during this period of history, they cared little for...
...when you start wishing TATW was "more like EB2"
Seriously, I would pay money for an in-depth traits and ancillaries system in TATW. And government trees. And "proper" AOR mechanics. And reform...
Was meaning to find out surgeons' effectiveness vs. herbalist, physician, doctor. I'd already been assuming surgeons were better for battle surgery as they didn't have the fertility bonus and they...
The main attraction of EBII for me is the RPG mechanics with family members. You really begin to get a sense of each character's story, achievements and failures. Some of the traits add significantly...
I'm happy with Praetorian Cohorts as the last piece of Roman evolution. Imperial legions would be nice, but as others have said other things take priority.
Doubtless someone will make an Imperial...

Pretty sure that's an engine limitation King Ramses (someone feel free to correct me). You can disable the flags altogether, but I realise that this is a matter of preference.
Certainly not. They didn't have the same militaristic attitude as Rome, but they certainly weren't hesitant to fight when they thought it beneficial.
Hopefully it includes more Italic cavalry. The equites sabelli are nice, but more variety is always welcome.
EDIT: Ugh. I feel bad for forgetting Tarantine cav. I love those guys, though I never...
If it was at all possible to get the CAI to do something like this in the first place, I'd expect to end up with the latter of those two eventualities. Even with the EB2 team's incredible acievements...
Rad has it. I usually have gold-chevron cavalry around somewhere, but line infantry? I wish.
The Syracuse mission in the original Age of Empires was a nightmare as I remember. Those mirror towers took my best ships down to about 15% of their hp, as I recall. And they were supported by fire...
Do Whatever Seleucids are doing in my latest campaign. They're stomping everyone, and I (Rome) am getting very scared.
Finally, a worthy challenge! :)
So the CAI works its way around the compass until it finds an "acceptable" target, instead of comparing all possible targets and selecting the "best"?
Can elephants even be argued to be cost-effective at all? For the same price you can just about maintain another full stack. It's not like they're impossible to kill.
Until we achieve true AI, the human player will always have the advantage of the ability to improvise. The computer will never be able to actively solve a problem which it was not built specifically...
What the heck? CA pls explain.
In a perfect world, the map would extend even further East and have 20+ more factions over there, but that's obviously not going to happen. :p
Would the team consider using one of the slots for a...
