First thing I would do is leave the animation packs alone for now and give the unit some similar vanilla animations in the bmdb, the important thing is to get the unit working in your mod first...
Did you update the model count of the battle models file, if you added a unit without an upgrade you would have to increase it by 1, if there's 1 upgrade to the unit as well you would increase it by...
I believe that is used for Auto_resolve battles, stick a silly number like 50 to any unit and auto_resolve the next battle, you should see the strength ratio immediately.

There are a few ways to go about doing what you want.
Firstly, find the descr_strat file and look for the line I've highlighted in red near the top of the file, comment out rebelling characters...
Did you update the serialization count at the beginning of the BMDB? if I added those two units I would have to increase my battle_models by two or it wouldn't work.

Only 62 models in the BMDB is the clue, the vanilla game has about 700, have you recently modified this file and have made a mistake with the model count...
There is a better way of dealing with those filthy heretics, open the descr_campaign_db file and modify the denounce_chance_min line, change it to 85 and every priest should turn into one of gods...
I would imagine that those supermods have already modified that file, if they haven't you can copy your file in to them or compare their amendments against yours.
Easy way would be the descr_battle_map_movement_modifiers file which affects every unit.
