    They receive some extra money to alleviate their incompetence, if you consider it cheating you can remove the bonus rather easily in the campaign_script.txt file

    They also get reinforcements...

    Good point, they are easy enough to dispatch anyways in single units. I usually just tie them up with some crap infantry or mercs I would otherwise disband after battle. Then charge them from behind...

    Would it be possible to further the "war of attrition" part of the game a bit, by making devastation have a larger impact, or blockades choke more trade? I think it would make the game more difficult...
