    Re: Naval Composition and Pirates

I play most of the naval battles, usually using big ramming ships, and very, very rarely encounter bugs.

I play on normal unit size though and from reading the forum I feel that's a huge help in...
  2. Re: Civil market or farming colonia for rome?

IIRC civil uses more food but gives PO and more.money so I use it only in the most profitable provinces (Italian, Africa, Greece, Thrace, Asia, Egypt...), Everyone else gets farming
  3. Re: Playing as Rome, I lose three cities and my capital is sieged within 10 turns. Um, help?

There is an official submod that removes autoresolve bonus for major faction. Time still expands but it is a lot more random whether it dominates or it remains stuck in Italy. It adds a lot of...

Re: Some Clarification on Phalanx units

That would only apply when defending a siege that you have a realistic chance to win... So basically never.
I would rather keep the realism of phalanxes being completely unsuited to fighting in...

Re: Some Clarification on Phalanx units

I think that the current phalanx balancing is good and the best it has ever been (maybe I would lower slightly the morale of elite phalanxes), but the argument above it's the worst possible one to...
  6. Re: Marian reform and population classes

No, the effect is simulated by recruiting standard legions from tier 3 pop, which is usually abundant enough to be effectively unlimited and making replenishment easier.

    Veteran legions and the...
  7. Re: Judea & Nabata campng outside Alexandria

Interesting. I have that set on "limited" and I very rarely if ever have that problem (although I very rarely have miktary allies or satrapies too).

I was wondering why that's the case

Re: Major City Maps in GC

Can the battle naps from the other campaign's be ported into the IA map?
  9. Re: I need some serious advice on late game civil war and sessions

There is no way to get rid of politics afaik.

    1) Choose a government that gives you +10 loyalty
    2) marry and promote to the max every member of the opposition party. This gives you a pretty much...
  10. Re: After Rome, who has the best heavy infantry?

Most factions have at least one infantry close to the power level of the Roman legionaire, the advantage of Rome is being able to recruit them from tier 3 pop rather than 1 (or, more rarely, 2)

    I...
  11. Re: How does DeI compare to Ancient Empires mod in Attila

Not only attacking mods/modders is inappropriate, as Dresden said, but is also really bad taste.
People, these gentlemen/women are doing volunteer work. Be grateful if their effort or don't play...
  12. Re: Region gifting/exchange (Very important feature)

If anyone could do that, they could also mod the map... We could get a tatw2... And I would need to quit my job and divorce
  13. Re: How does DeI compare to Ancient Empires mod in Attila

Man you are being too hard on yourself. I never played AE but I heard good things about it. You shouldn't have to apologize for missing deadlines on what is really volunteer work.
    We appreciate all...
  14. Re: how does dei compared to europa barbarorum II

The one thing where mtw2 engine is unbeatable is the support of mods that require changing the map (lotr, got). We might never get a new tatw mod, sadly
  15. Re: Divide et Impera 1.2.5 and Alexander Campaign Released!

Thank you, Jake, that was very informative

I have been playing with it for many months and I don't find that's the case. Over my past 5 campaigns chartago expanded every time and never lost more...
  16. Re: Divide et Impera 1.2.5 and Alexander Campaign Released!

Once again I cannot express in words my gratitude for you and your team, Dresden. I feel like a 6 year old on Christmas day when you post an update.

A question, do the changes to the major faction...

    Re: Barbarian Factions?

The Odrysians and the geti have both a top notch roster. The Lusitania are a lot of fun as well.
If you are looking for a completely different playstyle, suebi or lugii.

    Re: ┐how to reduce influence?

You are correct and I was mistaken. I thought it did change with government but is only different between factions.

The other things I described do work though. I am at turn 170 with Rome,...

  24. Re: The best total war experience. ┐why not move into attila total war?

I agree, Attila's battles are not enjoyable. I think it is the mass issue (cavalry is immune to mass related damage). KAM, is that it or are there more issues with Attila's battles engine?

    Re: ┐how to reduce influence?

    Option 1: change government
More centralized governments (kingdom, empire) give less or no penalties at higher influence

Option 2: empower the other parties
Marry all of their members, promote...
  26. Re: Problems with war on Makedon Campaign.

What you said does not refute my position in any way, just points out that there seems to be campaign specific issues with a specific campaign.

Are major (Rome, Chartage) and minor factions...
  27. Re: Problems with war on Makedon Campaign.

I am currently playing Rome and I just started my invasion of Carthage around turn 100.

Very early in the game they got attacked by Syracuse and I observed the 60 turn long war very carefully....

Re: Do you make use of all edicts?

The commercial edict is almost never worth it... As in there are probably only 2-3 provinces where you can accumulate enough commercial income to be worth it, and...

    BÓktria - cretan archers

They are not greyed out, they are literally not there.

Is this a bug or am I missing...
  34. Re: Problems with war on Makedon Campaign.

While this problem exists, I rarely notice it as the ai needs to grow to a multi-province (4+) empire to be noticed. Carving out an empire into province-sized satrapies is definitely too trigger...
  35. Re: Wider / broader formations not possible anymore

Unit depth has been fixed to avoid "spaghetti lines" cheesing. The battle engine unfortunately is worse than what we had in Rome 1 and does not properly model "push".
    With skinny lines you should...

Re: Parthian infantry... men at arms??

Re: Parthian infantry... men at arms??

You can leave small gaps (say 1/2 unit wide) between the hoplites and they will do just fine if your hammer doesn't take too long.

Also you need to decide what tactic you want to employ. If you...

    That.

Also as an anvil the hoplites will perform better as they are more sturdy, but the men at arm's should do pretty good as well
