  2. Re: Could modern tech bring back direct democracy?

If you consider, as I would, democracy to be a system that balances expert analysis of problems (including feasibility and impact studies) and popular support for their solutions, then your proposals...
  3. Re: Smithsonian Group Museum Engages in... White... Supremacy?

I see. People can make up their own mind, but unless they draw the same conclusion as you they're liars.
  4. Re: Smithsonian Group Museum Engages in... White... Supremacy?

Indeed I am part of a 'dominant white culture', though definitely, and thankfully, not the American version of it. I'm not the one challenging anything, but at least I'm open to the arguments of...

Perhaps they should consider withdrawing from the EU as well, and take their Hungarian friends with them.
  7. Re: Smithsonian Group Museum Engages in... White... Supremacy?

I still don't see how challenging a dominant culture and putting forward the idea that it may not be a universal truth/optimum, but just one amongst many amounts to a call to reject every aspect of,...
  8. Re: Smithsonian Group Museum Engages in... White... Supremacy?

You know, I find the thesis that race inequality continues to exist as a result of a dominant, normative European culture worth exploring. However I also find this is sadly virtually impossible to do...

Perhaps it's possible to sum up, but I'm afraid this was a failed attempt. That's utterly unreadable.

  12. Re: Smithsonian Group Museum Engages in... White... Supremacy?

Your founding documents didn't prevent the continued existence of slavery and racial segragation after that, but I guess that was all decided democratically, so that's ok.
  13. Re: Smithsonian Group Museum Engages in... White... Supremacy?

Lol, and who gets to decide what 'human society' is? Someone has to, otherwise no one can claim to defend it.

Yes, the flag not shown in the pic is the Argentinian one.

"Your society". Whose society exactly? That's kind of the question here.

Re: Guess the game from the screenshot.

That's the one. It's actually a pretty fun game, where you can explore and settle massive autogenerated, yet realistically laid out, 'new worlds'. It's still on steam I believe.
  17. Re: Smithsonian Group Museum Engages in... White... Supremacy?

So much effort expended on discrediting views in this threada. Why not just read the page in the OP and see if there's some validity in it, rather than go in with an 'all or nothing' attitude, going...
  18. Re: Smithsonian Group Museum Engages in... White... Supremacy?

No. It is an observation that this nuclear family is not a universal 'truth', but a cultural phenomenon prevalent in western society.

Arguably an even better reason, but not as widely held.

  20. Re: Smithsonian Group Museum Engages in... White... Supremacy?

As I posted elsewhere, this graph fits a concept that seems to exist in American Academia which roughly runs like this:

"White people don't think of themselves as an ethnic or cultural group. They...

I'll arbitrate. Let's strike a compromise. Athelstan gets the rep and the score for the competition. Akar gets the privilege of posting the new image. :D

Uh, ok so we got the Brazilian flag and a flag that's red-white-blue, but isn't the Dutch flag.

Final hint: there's a third flag on display at this site which isn't shown in the pic.

This is correct. A unique event in that it was the only time England managed to get to the final of a major Football tournament. #underachievers

    Re: Name That Historical Event

Not sure what's historical about it tbh but that pic is apparently from the 24 hours of Le Mans in 2007. The winners drove an Audi R10 TDI, which had been the first diesel car to win the race in 2006.
