Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
The gameplay in the whole is roughly viewed not very different, but 0.98 got just a lot updates, and thus is indeed still an open beta due to these many updates, means a very work in progress status.
Contrary to this, 0.96 should provide a very stable game experience, as we had circa one year no ctd-reports with this build.
We try to make sure that the upcoming version 1.0 release will be stable again, as 0.96.
Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
I actually haven't had really serious issues with the 0.98, except for some sort of bug with the Turkoman Horse Archer Mercs, which cause a CTD while the battlemap loads. I avoid it by not recruiting them, and there is no issue at all with the the regular Turkoman Horse Archer units used by the two Seljuk factions.

Oh, that could be a very worthy hint, thanks a lot! (i'll look for the unit soon)
... let me ask something:
1. Did you patch the 0.98 version?
2. Which patches you applied?
3. In which year you are in the campaign?
4. What has been the most advanced year you have achieved in your campaign(s)?
5. And which faction(s) you are playing or have played already?
6. No other ctds (besides the above one)?
EDIT
Wow, there has been a left-over bug in the dmb file in the regard of horse archers, which i fixed now. Hound of Ulster, if this is the cause for our end_turn ctd issue (what is indeed possible) then you'll get warm credits with the next release for your player report above :)
Despite this, if you have the time to respond to my questions above would be very nice as well.
EDIT2
It needed even more codes to fix. Now i'm still more confident in the hope that the end_turn ctd is fixed, we'll see. I can't deliver fixed files, as those are related to other files, too. The next update will be a full mod folder (requires a full fresh install without to overwrite the old build!), either a new open beta 0.99 or just first with the 1.0 version release ... depends on different development factors.
Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
Version: .98.11c
Exe: RTW Vanilla :)
Faction/s: Danes/Poland
-----------
Custom Battle Mode: yes
---------------------------
- Ctd: no
Campaign Mode: yes
----------------------
At some point in the campaign (usually before 100 turns) the speed becomes super fast on both the strategy map and battle map. On strategic map units move very fast and information screens simply appear instead of rolling down. Also the cloud reflections on the oceans go by very fast. On a battle map the units glitch across the map when ordered to walk/run and the camera speed is too fast to be able to use almost at all. Season makes no difference when this bug attacks :( . On the last campaign I got to 1114 AD before it speeding off to oblivion. Reloading the game does not help after the speed goes crazy. Script is turned off. Also after the speed weirds out it changes my RTW 1.5 and vanilla runs super fast. RTW 1.5 worked before the speed went crazy. I'm guess that something somewhere is causing a graphics file to change in both CHTW and RTW? Any help would be great. I don't use autosaved game files or quicksave after reading FAQs :) .It's possible that when I hit continue campaign it pulled an autosave file...but I doubt it since I delete them and save my game whenever I leave CHTW. Thanks

Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
First of all, very welcome to the forums :)
To your point(s):
... :hmmm:
"RTW vanilla exe" ???
Does that mean you start the mod with the RTW vanilla exe?
What you describe here doesn't fit to the ChivTW mod build at all, i'm afraid ... .
You need to start (and play) the mod with the included ChivTW shortcut-exe.
Please check the mod-install-play-instructions again and try it anew ... , and then come back if you have still problems that you described above, what i do not expect because those special issues are completely unknown, never before experienced nor reported that the speed changes within the mod-play. There must be a mis-match of files in place in your personal gaming file structure.
Perhaps you have installed the mod into your RTW vanilla directory or something else that mixes files?
My advice is, that you delete the entire chivalry modfolder, and then check out if your RTW 1.5 functions normally ... as this must be the case as requirement for the proper function of the modfolder installation (again, check the install/startplay-inctructions once more). If you have installed the modfolder files or just files into your RTW vanilla data folder, then your game is f...ed up completely, means only a complete un- and reinstall of the entire RTW game would help to start the procedere anew.
to say it short: you must see a folder calling chivalry within your RTW directory, and this must be started via the ChivTW shortcut.
Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
Hmm. It appears it's harder to leave a report then I thought ;) . Ok so I start the mod with the specialized shortcut. There is a chivalry folder in my RTW folder ...So I've deleted my chivalry folder and now my RTW ctd's when i try a campaign. So my question is if I somehow applied the hotfixes to the RTW data file instead of the Chivalry data file would give me these random errors? BTW I really enjoy the mod :) .

Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
:( Yes, so it is. You have obviously overwritten your RTW data folder with the ChivTW data folder. This is the reason why your entire game plays crazy.
Unfortunately, the only solution is to uninstall RTW completely to avoid more file-mess. And then afterwards you've installed RTW 1.5 fresh, check it out first if it works properly, and then read the mod-installation instructions very accurate. In principle it is very easy to install ChivTW if you know how to unzip files your desktop and then copy and paiste the chivalry modfolder into your RTW mainfolder. and then you only need to copy the contained chiv-shortcut to your desktop to start the mod (this is the way if you have RTW in its default folder etc. ... see please exactly the instruction of "Release ... Info" thread, and eventually more info for installations is in the additional stickied install-info thread to find.
Hope you get it all right then, much luck.
The only alternative to avoid the whole RTW un- and re-installation is, if you exactly know which Chiv patch files you have installed into the RTW data folder, and that you then reinstall exactly these RTW data files back (means overwrites the chiv files within the RTW data folder). Possible only if you have still a RTW vanilla dat folder saved (coomplete untouched!), but als this is not a good idea, because then it would be much senseful to just copy and paiste this saved vanilla data folder into the now active RTW folder :) ... sounds complicate, but it isn't really if you get first the overview about RTW folder and modfolder.
Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
Ok... I think I got most of that ;) . I deleted my RTW folder along with ChivTW folder. I think I'll try copy/paste from a clean copy of my entire RTW folder stored on my HD for occasions like this. Then reinstall ChivTW. Here's hoping...
Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
Very good that you had one saved RTW data folder as untouched vanilla.
Never touch that folder, means, only copy and paiste this data folder whenever you messed up your RTW. This way you can always repair your original game.
As further tip: You do not need to delete the entire RTW folder as long you know that (only) data files are "damaged". Just keep the RTW folder (as main directory untouched) and remove the "damaged" RTW/data folder before you copy/paiste the saved vanilla RTW/data folder.
Start one time a RTW campaign to check that it works properly (one or two turns are enough), close, and proceed for modfolder installations, which must be always outside the RTW/data folder but inside the RTW folder ;) (if you keep the ladder structure, then you can't produce a mismatch, means your RTW/data stays 100 % unmodified).

Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
Greetings again,
I managed to fix the last strange problem by reinstalling my gfx card drivers and now I'm stuck with 2 CTD's.
CTD #1
Version: 98.00
Exe: RTW 1.5
Faction/s: England
-----------
Custom Battle Mode:no
Campaign Mode: yes
----------------------
- Ctd: When I click end turn the AI processes most factions then CTD's at the Grand seljuk turks.
- Ctd repeatable: oh yes :)
- Units: unknown
- Location and kind of Battle: Strategic map
- Year/Season w or s (winter or summer): Winter 1088
- Saved game used/reloaded: yes
- Optional show_me script implemented/enabled: no
Other bugs: I've tried attacking/not attacking etc... I'd guess it has to do with the civ and traits...I installed the hot fixes but strangely they don't appear. I'll repost after installing them again :(.
CTD #2
English Campaign.
1096 Winter.
Whenever I conquer a rebel town in Scotland I get a CTD.
Definitely repeatable w/ a saved game.
"edit" I've reinstalled the hot fixes but my version still reads 00.98.00 :(

Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
Thanks for the reports using the form-template :thumbsup2
As for ctd #1, this is a known issue, and #2 is unknown.
It is in work to solve #1, and for #2 i can't say something (i would need more details).

"edit" I've reinstalled the hot fixes but my version still reads 00.98.00
I re-added a note to the patch dl-post (in the sense: the on-screen version display isn't changed with these little updates).
My tip for now is: Play only custom battles with 0.98. And/or rename (or remove) the 0.98 chivalry folder, and install/play 0.96 which should be free of ctd's in campaigns, until version 1.0 is out.
Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
Ok sounds good. I'll look forward to 1.0 :D . Also playing as the polish today; when I hit the 1088ish I had a ctd after clicking end turn. I'd guess once again it's those turks ;). If I play as a moslem side will it avoid the CTD's from traits?? Thanks
Pingpong
Re: Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
You could still give here some more details of the English/Scotland crash ... please describe as accurate as possible what the circumstances were.
Re: Chivalry I : Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
Version: the latest one...0.98 was it?
Exe: RTW 1.5
Faction/s: England
-----------
Custom Battle Mode: no
---------------------------
Campaign Mode: yes
----------------------
- Ctd: it always happens on a random year, i am happily busy with my campaign, and then all the sudden in a turn switch (where very faction makes their turn) BOOM! it's a ctd...it always happens when the shiled of that blue faction al-ajablablalba is shown EDIT: i think it has something to do with that faction....
- Ctd repeatable: yes, if i've saved that turn and it has a ctd...i can load that game very time i want, it will always crash at the same moment 0.o
- Units: not unit specific
- Location and kind of Battle: it never happens in a battle
- Year/Season w or s (winter or summer): i think....winter, but i'm not sure
- Saved game used/reloaded: yes
- Optional show_me script implemented/enabled: no
Other bugs: no
Re: Chivalry I : Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
Yes, it's the same kind of the known end_turn ctd.
You wrote something in your AAR thread about using only manual saving, does this work to come over the ctd, means, you can play a campaign unstopped?
It would be very important to know, if the ctd has direct and only to do with the vanilla autosave-function (which is known as bugged).
Re: Chivalry I : Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
i never had a ctd when i pressed continue campaign and that campaign was one where i never auto-loaded ;D (i mostly save manual now, so if i press the continue campaign button it's mostly one of my "english savegames" ...i'm playing this mod for a week now and i want to finish my english campaign first before i start a new one)
i had 1 ctd where i loaded a manual savegame from the main menu
and i had tons of ctd's when i loaded autosaves from the main menu or from a campaign...and the problem is here, if i autoload a game, i don't know it's affected by the ctd and i then overwrite one of my savegames...i can load that game so many times it won't help, it will stay crashing...no way out if it has decided that it will crash
enough?
and yes, it mostly happens around 1098...if i manage to play through that year, it's all fine (as my AAR reports, the englsih campaign you see there had 3 backups, so i could evade a ctd lol)
i think we are getting somewhere
Re: Chivalry I : Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
Your report above is a bit strange :hmmm: (i wish you luck with the AAR camp though).
... unfortunately i cannot imagine atm. how a campaign-ctd-issue depends on 'Continue Campaign' and/or manual-save and reload, other than that of the CA-auto-save-bug.
I tested in the meantime again, and i at least get also the same kind of the end_turn ctd if i disable the auto-save function in preferences.txt, means if i use a manual save and reload, it still ctd's.
Btw., the 'Continue Campaign' always calls the last auto-save ;)
However, i recently did a significant change in the descr_strat (ds) file regarding starting characters, and i'm pretty confident that the end_turn ctd is a clone-character-issue, because after i disabled all starting non-family characters from the factions (except independent factions who have no family-tree), the game is stable  ... as of yet at least (1110 AD). Have to test this test-faction-camp further (open is also in this regard the question, if we can still have recruitable generals in this mod).
Prior to this ds-change, the same test-faction-camp crashed in the late 1080s or 1090s turns. Here is hope for a soon ctd-free mod again (note: the pre-0.98 versions hadn't the starting non-family characters in ds, and also no recruitable generals, and the former versions were stable).
Re: Chivalry I : Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
hmm, i may just have been lucky, coz i only used continue campaign twice XD
but it really has to do with the end turn (sometimes with the grand seljuks...but i don't think it's because of them...because they are just in front of my faction and in the "between-turn" mode you don't see every shield because it goes so fast....)
ah well, i hope you get out of it...
Re: Chivalry I : Bug/Ctd Reports 0.9x - Read First Post!
Quote:
and in the "between-turn" mode you don't see every shield because it goes so fast....
You can change this, if you apply: View the AI turn, or how it calls (faction-selection-menu). Then you can see every single AI-move, ie. if you toggle_fow (disable the fog-of-war, alternative in preferences.txt.

Yes, i'm pretty sure, the next release-version is ctd-free.

great, will that one (i guess it's 1.0 not?) be savegame firendly to this one? or will it just make a new folder? (i picked something up of someone saying "maybe i can make it install in a folder 1.0 so it will not have the install issues wich always happen when a new version is released" or something like that....)
EDIT: and am i the only one playin this mod? ;D
i see abselutly no-one here
