You need a leader of the correct ethnicity in the right settlement (eg a Kres in Knossos) with Influence of 2+ who is 40 years old or older, present in winter when the elections take place.

Ok thks for this
But i have one question more :p
On my Nabatean campaign i have made three large scale farine, in rekem dedan bostra and my leader have the settled nature trait, but i have'nt the first reform
Nobody knows about triggers of the settled Nabatean reform ?
Yep, i have convert rekem in permanent settlement and Dedan was already large town
Right, I didn't mean Dedan, but that nomad camp above Bosra, but I don't think that province is connected with reform. When I had reform I had all of them as cities with city tier farm. But idk it might not be required, I didn't have settled ruler for a long time.
For the reform we need large scale farms in rekem, bostra and dedan, and i built them, and finaly the faction leader must have traits for settling, but my leader have only one trait ; settled nature. It that enough ?
Otherwise I do not see what does not work
Yes I think it is settled nature trait and no nomad trait. I played Nabatean campaign long time ago, but now I play Saka Rauka and I settled right after my leader got settled nature trait. Saka dont have farm requirement but they have to settle specific camps instead.
I apologize if this information is present somewhere else, but I haven't found it. What exactly constitutes "They must have had 5 or more major land battles with Rome" for the carthaginians? Must the enemy have 1000 men? 1500? Is it measured in enemy units instead, so a full stack of many depleted units still counts?
I ask that because I have a Barcid General of the Army ("Rab Sheni"), the required cities, passed turn 140 and fought roman half- or full stacks about ten times, yet the reform wasn't triggered. So I deduce that the battles didn't met the requirements, or perhaps the reform isn't immediate?
Thank you for your attention.
How many turns after 141 have you gone? It can sometimes take a few before it triggers.
Hello, I apologize but, i come again with my Nabatean reform, i think it possibly broken in 2.2q
if any people have succesfully reformed the Nabatu, please help me
I have large scale farming in Rekem, Dedan and Tadmor, my faction leader have settled nature trait and have good skills
Tadmor does not count, you need Bostra instead.
Nabatu reform worked as intended as of 2.2f, I think (haven't played them since).
oh yeah, i'm stupid, i have large scale farms in bostra, but not in tadmor, i have'nt tadmor
Im not sure, but, is the desert warrior trait are nomadic trait ?
What is "nomfarms_two" for rekem ?
You need to have converted Rekem, basically. The requirement is > nonfarms_two (ie nomfarms_three), which is the nomadic version of Large Scale Farming. It will be checked off as you convert since you have to build it to do so.
Family Member. I actually believe any general counts (?)
Why are these reforms conditional on winning battles? It's completely illogical for administrative reform to be conditional on winning arbitrary battles, especially since the AI isn't convenient about allowing that (i.e. it doesn't always leave large FM-lead armies around for you to attack).
Im at 234 BC as Carthage and Hamiklar is leading a force in Greece. I took out rome ages ago and control all the cities listed, He is also a Barcid, and yet still havent got the reform for carthage. The iberian one went through thats what made me realize mine hadnt happened yet. Is there something I am missing? How do I make Hamiklar a 'General of the Army' as he has been leading troops for 10 years
Titles are conveyed in Carthage in winter - much like the Roman ones.
Note the earliest you can get the reform is 237BC anyway.
I am in the same hot seat, using Parthians...regarding what QS said I will not shitch culture right? (when I met the requirements ecc)...
does change culture thing is related with game run on the same pc? or it is only for single player, no matter what.
in a Single player campaign I was able to switch culture, once met the req.
when new turn begins a message inform me of the change...so my question is, if once the req are met...the turn are on one pc...does the culture swtch takes place? or is only a single player, not matter what...in others hs was possible chanche religion via buildings :)
Cultural conversion doesn't require the script. Changing culture, though, is script-only.
Pahlava's reform happens to be one that doesn't have a player-only and AI-only set of criteria, so it's Hotseat safe.
thanks so much QS! :)
A small question about Marian Reforms:
will the Cohors Reformata be recruitable all over "Roman" Europe (as in EB I) or just in Italy?
In the case of the Saba, it says:
However, the conditions stated in the Faction Governments & Colonies thread suggests that in addition to having an FM outside of South Arabia (presumably not in a settlement neighbouring Maryab) I need to "create a strong kingdom" (whatever that means) and having 60% EI in Maryab.Quote:
If one of your characters ends his turn in a settlement not too far from the capital (approximately 3 provinces away. For example, Timna works (Thanks Wulfburk)) that has less than 30% of your culture in it, the reform triggers.
Which set of conditions is correct?
The former, though it's missing the requirement that the settlement in question has to also have either a "'Adīm Malkān (Bondsmen of the king)" or "Mahrab Malkān (Royal Court)" government for the reform to trigger. Both of these require a certain level of EI to become available (40 and 60% respectively, the latter only buildable after the reform, but already present in Maryab), which can be attained through temples to Almuqah. Will update the OP to mention this.
There certainly are settlements that won't count - the script says "and DistanceCapital < 3". I'm not sure whether this means the settlement in question may not be three provinces or further away from the capital or three something else. Maryab should work and according to the experiences in the OP, so should Timna.
Maryab also doesn't need 40% EI specifically, since it already starts with the government it needs.
Hello everyone!
I got my hands on Koinon Hellenon but it seems like my save got problem. I couldn't get archons beside the strating ones (most of them dead) when I got to the reform step 4 to gather 4 in Korinthos. Meaning even with positive influence and clicking on them outside city and waiting a turn it wouldn't give them the trait (It worked on a quick restart campain with the guy in Rhodos so this is only my save i guess). Long story short I manage to console me a bunch of archon with the give_trait "this" SparteStateLeader and so on and they are gathered in Korinthos since 15 turns but it seems they are not discussing what they should be discussing as the next step doesn't trigger.
My question is the following: If I would be to try console me the next buildings for the reform would it trigger the reform? I saw there is some failsafe turn number (which are quite ahead of me): if the script doesn't work with the 4 archons, will the failsafe work or can the reform completely crash on a save? I suppose it is not advisable either to use console to get me closer to the reform turn failsafe.
Thanks a lot for the guide/help and game!
You don't actually need to send the Archons to Korinthos any more, just own Korinthos and have four StateLeaders. You should have had a popup as soon as those things were true - might you have missed it?
There's no way to console_command specific buildings, only hurry along construction. The failsafe will work if it has been broken somehow, but you'll be waiting til turn 300 for that one.
I don't think I got the pop-up then, is it dismissable like the kretan and aetolian mercenaries? I hope I didn't reflex dismissed it but I don't think so. If I got the pop-up shouldn't I be able to build the buildings anyway?
I think I will have to wait until turn 300 then (if I have the courage).
Thanks QuintusSertorius!
Yes, it's a dismiss-able popup like the mercs one.
The popup appears with the setting of the event_counter - the two don't happen separately.
In my experience, the Archon traits seem to occur erratically. Some FMs never become Archons, despite being of the right ethnicity as governors, and being battle-hardened etc. Also, I never got more than three different kinds of Archons at the same time, and some of them were doppelgängers instead (had three Archontes ton Demou at one point, IIRC). Strangely enough, the reforms triggered regardless of all this. This was my experience both in 2.2r and in 2.3.
Is the event counter the nomber traking my status during the reform? Is it possible to reset it by console (something like set event_counter 3)?
Maybe I dismissed it with right click as I sometimes missclick my pop-ups. I remeber clearly the pop-up asking me to gather archons to discuss but I haven't opened the HE_KOINON_HELLENON_REFORM_BODY starting the Sympoliteia.
It is bordering on impossible to make those traits unique, unless they're FL-only, and quite a few of them aren't unique offices anyway. You just need four of them, doesn't matter which and in what combination.
Nothing you can do with the console, I'm afraid.
Anyone having issues with the Polybian reform? I'm running the second 2.3 campaign where I know I've fought enough battles to qualify for the reforms by turn 100* (one of my generals fighting in Africa is Africanus and has "seen the elephant"). Does killing stacks spawned by the Ligurian revolt not count?
Really scratching my head over this.
I never actually fulfilled the battle count version of the reform (not enough eligible enemy stacks).
But the 150 turn version should work, I had it about a month ago. Do you have the whole of Sicilia and Cisalpine Gaul?
Oh whoops, I meant by 100.
In previous campaigns in various 2.2 versions and prior, I'd had no problems getting reforms to trigger earlier.
So far in this current campaign I haven't taken all of sicilia and cisalpine gaul as I'm trying to follow a historical conquest timeline, but that's my next thing to test when I have time.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, I think I had an issue with one of my 2.2r campaigns as well. This most recent Romani campaign is the one I'm most sure that I hit all the battle requirements on though.
They have to be fought on the battlemap (not auto-calc'd - the counter it exports requires the battle engine) against an enemy of 12 or more units, either in Cisalpine Gaul (against anyone), or against Carthage (anywhere). You have to clock 4+ in Cisalpina and 5+ against Carthage.
Ah, that makes sense! I may have auto-calc'ed a few of the battles in cisalpine gaul. Thanks for clearing that up!
EDIT: That's not reflected in the OP. Can you update it to clear it up? Says it's 10+ units and there's no mention of auto-calc battles not counting
It would really help if you got a notice saying a battle qualified towards the reforms.
Hello, I’m having a problem with the Barcid Reform.
I have met all the requirements for the Barcid Reform except one, having a War Leader with the Barcid Trait. The problem is that NONE of my FMs have the Barcid trait. I have around 30 FMs now and most of my beginning characters have already died.
After looking through each character’s traits, I did not find anyone with the Barcid or Anti-Barcid trait (except for my old FL with the Anti-Barcid trait)
So, my question is how can I give a character the Barcid trait?
I have tried using the console commands “give_trait” but it hasn’t worked so far.
What would the correct way to type the Console command to give a character the Barcid trait?
Take an FM, move them outside a settlement, leave them selected.
give_trait this Barcid
Thanks, it worked great.
I wonder why my FM's aren't getting the trait on their own
It should be triggered when they Come of Age or are married into the family.
Thanks for updating the OP, Quintus. I'll report back if it still doesn't work
Hello, i have a problem with the saka settled reform, i don't understand because what is the good reform, in the player guide or in this thread ?
Because i have converted haomavarga agu, i have conquer shahr, chach and bukharrak
And my faction leader have a settled trait
And That's the triggers in the player guide
I have the same problem than OkamiTroll, any one can hello us ?
I have got all the reforms for the Saka. To get the settled I conquered Bukhurak, Chach, A-E/Kurukand, Haomavarga-agu and Shahr.
Ok i suppose i have a problem in my data file, go to reinstall all the mod
Thks Lord Custard
Okamitroll, what background is your faction leader? Looking at the save point I made just before I triggered the first reform I noticed that my faction leader was a Saka Rauka (not Wusun, Mazaka or anything like that). Maybe that is the problem?
What's the command for give_trait Rab Mahnet? I had only 1 character with Barcid, but i cant get him to Rab Mahnet, and im tired of waiting tens of turns to somehow trigger this. Seems the barcid triggering is bit bugged as i only ever got 1 general with that.
As this Carthaginian reform is so hard to get, some hard limit for getting it automatically at turn 200 or something would be nice as backup.
Edit: Got it by having peace for ~15 turns until i had the peace event, started war and chose my only Barcid character as the main general. So no need for those commands anymore.
i reinstalled EBII and i started a saka campaing, normally i would take Alexandreia Eschate, Chach, Haomavarganu-Agu (and i convert this in settled town), Shahr and finally take Bukharrak. The faction leader must have the trait ; Want to settle and have the saka rauka ethnicity
We'll see if the settled reform works
thks Lord Custard
Quintus, if the Koinon Hellenon no longer need the Archons to stay in Korinthos for the reform, could you please edit the KH reform requirements in the OP please?
Also, was Rome fixed for 2.3 or before where you now only need 6 Latifundias in Italy for the Marian reform, and no longer in Greece?
I'll update the KH one at some point.
The Roman one is already correct on the first post - the sites are in Italy, as intended.
Is the Pergamon reform bugged?
I did a test campaign with Pergamon and had about 10 battles againts rebel stacks in Galatia (I even created units in Ankyra through the console, so the Galatians can send big armies to me). But the Galatian invasion was never triggered.
The reform could be triggered by the fallback though.
Only battles against stacks of 11+ units in Galatia count - were they all big?
Wasn't sure about that, so I did another test campaign. Before attacking a Galatian army I checked that they had at least 12 units (most of the time I added some units to the army by using).Code:create_unit
After about 8 battles in Galatia there was still no Galatian invasion.
in my campaign (arverni) i'm qualifying for the celtic twilight trigger as written in the first post in this thread - but it's not happening. anything missing in the first post?

Playing as Hayasadan, Took two cities and won 6 battles, offered truce - declined. Next turn, offered truce again, declined again - immediate outbreak of peace. Got a note advising that was now a kingdom and some new troops available but "Nstavayry Ishkhanutyan" not able to be built. Had all surrounding provinces and 9 provinces total.
After a few turns of peace I was ejected from one of my captured Seleucid towns (Antioch) by the rebellious populous and war resumed... I then retook Antioch and one other town and the "Nstavayry Ishkhanutyan" bacame available. My FL had authority 8 then so I'm not sure if that caused the change.

P.
I was about to post this message about Saba reform, seeing as I'd spent hours of contemplation and rigorous testing:
"I have to admit I am a bit perplexed about Saba reforms in 2.3. First I've sent family members (both with and without Malk Saba trait) to Ethiopia and North Arabia (i.e. outside South Arabia as instructed in player guide pdf file), each of the settlements in question has Bondsmen of the King government, and since that did not trigger anything, I checked the requirements from older versions and let Eastern Tribal States culture drop below 30% in Maryab and Shabwat. No reform either way. I think I'm missing something crucial here, turn number is 291 by now."
As I was writing this while playing I then sent the Faction Leader to Maryab to test things out and when I ended the turn (Eastern Tribal staying below 30% afterwards) the reform occurred. The question is, is the Faction Leader (or any other FM with Malk Saba trait) the key here? Or was this just a coincidence?
"They have to be fought on the battlemap to be counted."
RIP, all of us, autoresolvers. :(
Question about the events that happen to most factions now, in this case Koinon Hellenon: For some there are clear triggers and requirements, but I am uncertain about some. For me particulary the event where it more or less says it would be a great next step to kill Pyrrhus, which I couldnt, are there consequences for this ? Same goes for the other events which seem to trigger due to date, I cant see their effects everytime for example when I start to stamp my wares.
How do I become Eastern Imperial as Hayastan? I've already united the Caucasus, built that special building, become independent, reached 15 settlements (14 cities & 1 camp), and have an FL with 7 authority (in that order). According to the guide that should've unlocked everything by now.
EDIT: Nevermind, turned out I still needed to take Antioch. Which I did, and now I'm Eastern Imperial. Shame I can't get rid of Polis buildings though.
Ugh. Unfortunately, it appears the v2.3 code means the reform can ONLY be triggered in Maryab (the only settlement which meets the distance requirement). Which is nonsense, because it means you can't keep your FMs in the capital city until after the Reform. We're discussing this internally and should have it fixed in v2.35
The Taxhila heavy cavalry reform seems quite strict, it only happens after fighting 5 major battles against Saka heavy cavalry.... What if Saka was pummeled to the ground before then :( Can't the Taxhila learn from another cavalry faction like Parthia....
Why is it only triggered by fighting agaisnt barded cavalry if the unit gained by it is (lancers) is not barded or even that heavy?
Makes sense, thank you for the answer.
Btw, what unlocks the cataphracts for the Baktrians, thorakitai reform?
Yes, ThorakitaiReform (and either Basilike Patris or helcol_three).
So, questions about SPQR reforms and how they impact recruitment by non-Romans. I think I have a grasp of how things work, but I just want to make sure that the following is how the system works:
-If I (as Macedon) conquer Italy before Rome has undergone the Polybian Reforms, I'll have access to the various Italic regional units (Remunerated Spearmen, Etruscan Hoplites, Umbro-Picenian Warriors, etc.) through the usual means (native colony, allied govs, merc pools)
-If Rome then undergoes the Polybian Reforms (via the AI fallback on turn 249), I'll lose access to the Italic regionals and most of the heavy infantry will be replaced with the Cohors Sociorum.
-If I destroy the SPQR faction before turn 249, I'll keep access to the Italic regionals, but never gain access to the Polybian Italic units.
-If I then allow the SPQR to survive to 107 B.C. (the Marian fallback event), then all the Italic regionals will be disabled.
-If I destroy the SPQR faction before 107 B.C., but after turn 249, I'll keep access to the Polybian regionals.
Does that basically cover it, or am I missing something (like the reforms happening even if SPQR is destroyed)? If the Marian Reforms do trigger, what happens to non-factional recruitment in Italy for non-Romans? Do they get access to limited quantities of Marian troops? Do they keep access to the Polybian regionals?
I'd like to figure out when to conquer Italy/Carthage: I've already seen late Lybians running around, so I don't have to worry about the Carthaginian Panoply reform (and IIRC, the Barcis reform just impacts their governments, not their units, so I don't care about that one), but I'm not sure how important it is to kill off Rome (as a faction) quickly, or if it's safe to leave them around on Corsica or something.
As it currently stands, it doesn't matter whether the Romans are alive or not, both reforms will happen eventually. There's a date-triggered "fallback" should they not fire for some reason. I think I'll make the Marian reform conditional upon the Romans existing, though, it's very particular to them.
Thanks for the clarification.
That actually makes my decision easier now that I know there's no real difference between killing off SPQR or letting them live. So, I should expect my Italian recruitment to shift over to Polybian units around 210 B.C. and most of my Italian recruitment to disappear circa 107 B.C.?
