Twirling and Jittery Spears with Hoplite Animations
I've tried three wonderful mods - Para Bellum, Wars of the Gods, and Roma Invecta, and with each mod the hoplite animations are intolerable with excessively twirling and jittering spears. I believe this is due to the spear held above the head for hoplites animations that these mods have implemented. When I try vanilla or vanilla with any battle mod that keeps the vanilla spear held down low animations for hoplites, there are no such problems.
Surely these wonderful mods don't favor this look, or do they? I am playing with the Steam Emperor Edition version. Is there some dlc I need to make these animation work properly? Please help. Thanks!
Re: Twirling and Jittery Spears with Hoplite Animations
After continual comparisons and research, it really seems to me that the modders of these great mods think the trade off is worth it. Roma Invecta even has an option to revert back to the old hoplite animations with the spear held lower and no jitter and twirling, which I, of course, much prefer.
Divide et Impera does not use the spear held above the head hoplite animations, and so there is no whirling and jittering spear. My problem with Divide et Impera is that whenever the units are bunched up they go into epileptic type dances. I guess this must be due to tighter formations for some units in this mod. Roma Invecta has the same problem. Once again, I guess this must be a trade-off that the modders think to be worthwhile. Maybe so, but jittering and epileptic units drive me nuts.
I just wonder if anyone in the know has any more insight on any of this, and hopefully, if there is anything that I could do to use these wonderful mods with their tighter formations and properly held hoplite spears without getting the whirling and jittering hoplite spears and the epileptic seizure dancing in blobs of tighter formation units.
Re: Twirling and Jittery Spears with Hoplite Animations
"epileptic dance" is result of using circle battle entity shape for infantry... there is no "space" around them, and they collide together way too much... in R2TR4, i use Ellipse shape for infantry, and its much more bearable...
