Gah I know that's from the French Revolution, give me a bit...
EDIT: Isn't that the coup that led to Pichegru being exiled?
Hint: yes it is the French Revolution, this could be labelled as the effective end of the Revolution.
18 Brumaire?
No but close.
The event when Pichegru gets arrested by Pierre Augereau in 1797 AD?
Oui oui, the Coup of 18th Fructidor effectively destroying the power of the revolutionaries, although Pichegru was elected head to head an increasingly moderate government the revolutionaries under Barras called on military support to remove them from power. Despite what seems to be a clear victory for the revolutionaries it in fact sealed their fate by relying on General Bonaparte. Not only did Napoleon Bonaparte gain immense power and essentially made the Directory into his martinets, but it pretty much gave him control of the armed forces. Later on Sieyes was able to pull a coup and then with Napoleon's help another coup to finally destroy the Directory and giving Napoleon sole power.
