He might have said something about two different versions (I've heard that too but not from Kingkong)
but he never mentioned he was working on them

Re: Preview: Settlements of Middle-earth - Part III
could it ever be done that in certain battlefields ,far in the distant horizon, certain landamrks could be seen ? (kinna like mount doom ,or the three towers etc..maybe just creating some new custom -horizons for certain battlefields around these landmarks? what are the images in world/maps/custom used for ?)
Re: Preview: Settlements of Middle-earth - Part III
KK stated, in the custom object collection thread, that he needed preferably 2 versions of Osgiliath buildings. So he never stated HE was going to make 2 osgiliaths, but that's pretty easy a guess. And we still don't know what he choose to do (if 1 or 2 cities -eastern and western-). Ruined Osgiliath is al large amout of polys, and there's the "how do I make the river" question too.

i think that osgiliath will be 1 big settlement, not sure though

I don't think so, this would cause gameplay problems. :hmm:
Re: Preview: Settlements of Middle-earth - Part III
Excellent work KK although maybe the orc settlement walls could have been jazzed up ??? a few skulls here and there maybe .. a ditch? my experiments with adding a hill ridge just inside the wall didn't work .. archers could fire great and set many a ram a-fire .. BUT any troops standing on the hill were just tooo vunerable .. plus it didn't look right .. and wasn't LORE!!!
BTW, are these orc settlements Lore? you know what the PMS Lorers are like.

You could include a part of east osgiliath on west osgiliath map and vise versa, but I don't think it will be one big settlement because the east bank was under the control of Mordor and the west of Gondor for quite some time
Re: Preview: Settlements of Middle-earth - Part III

My first post here, but I've been a long time reader of this site.
I must continually take my hat off to the genius of all who have been involved in some way with modding, either with the releases working with King Kong, or with their own individial sub modifications, absolutely stunning work!
The screenshots of the custom settlements also looks fantastic, in particular the work on Minas Tirith, and The Black Gates!
Any ideas to add 'The Battle of Pelannor Fields' and the final stand off at the Black Gates in the Historical Battles section?

I don't know if it is possible to make a 'siege-historical battle' but if it is then there will be ;)
