M2TW Config File How To's
Here's a bunch of useful information for the medieval2.preference.cfg file compiled by Epistolary Richard, wilddog, Modding Forum, alpaca, NIKO_TWOW.RU, and adonys. Thanks to them for spending some of their time to share this very useful information with us. If anybody knows any more useful information for the config file, please post it here and me or another moderator will update the guide.
Note: According to wilddog, this file should not be modified because the game will overwrite it again so to create a permanent custom configuration, follow the instructions mentioned below under ".cfg Switching".
With the release of the unpacker tool in the 1.1 patch, if you make any changes to the text files in the main Data folder, to get them to show up in the game, you need to add this command line to your config file:
Quote:
[io]
file_first = true
Bug Tracking
To enable the error logging functions of MTW2, add:
Code:
Quote:
[log]
to = logs/system.log.txt level = * error
The following gives a lot of info that won't be very useful for the average modder, but if the error logging doesn't help you, try it:
Code:
Quote:
[log]
to = logs/system.log.txt level = * trace
You can further use both level statements in the same file in which case the last setting will be used. As an example, providing:
Code:
Quote:
[log]
to = logs/system.log.txt level = * trace level = * error
Will do the same as if you only supplied level = * error.
Disabling Green Arrows Under Selected Units
To disable the green arrows under your units when you select them:
Quote:
Change "disable_arrow_markers = 0" to "disable_arrow_markers = 1"
Unlimited Men On The Battefield
To allow all armies in the area to enter the battle:
Quote:
Change "unlimited_men_on_battlefield = 0" to "unlimited_men_on_battlefield = 1"
Battle Editor
To enable the battle editor, simply add these two lines:
Code:
Quote:
[features]
editor = true
Faction Unlocking
These few lines will unlock all playable factions in your campaign:
Code:
Quote:
[misc]
unlock_campaign = true
Running in a Window
To run the game in a window (same as the "-ne" switch in RTW), add:
Code:
Quote:
[video]
windowed = true
Disabling the Videos
If you want to disable the movies for the game ("-nm" switch in RTW), use:
Code:
Quote:
[video]
movies = false
Disabling City/Castle Info on the Strat Map
To disable the settlement info on strat map:
Quote:
Change "label_settlements =1" to "label_settlements =0"
Disable Unit Info In Battles
To disable info about units in battles:
Quote:
Change "show_tooltips = 1" to "show_tooltips = 0"
Disable Flags/Banners in Battles
To disable flags/banners in battles:
Quote:
Change "show_banners = 1" to "show_banners = 0"
Disable Event Cut Scenes
Quote:
Change "event_cutscenes = 1" to "event_cutscenes = 0"
Minimal Battle Map UI/Hud
Quote:
Change "full_battle_HUD = 1" to "full_battle_HUD = 0".
.cfg Switching
The .cfg switching mechanism allows you to use different game configuration.
To start the game using a different config file, you have to create a new batch file (create a new text file and rename the file extension to .bat) in your MTW2 directory, that looks like this:
Code:
Quote:
medieval2.exe @mod.cfg
Then create a copy of your medieval2.preference.cfg, rename it to mod.cfg (you can use any name here, just remember to also change it in the .bat file) and make your changes. Then create a shortcut to your newly-created .bat file and enjoy the game.
Mod Switching
This method can be used as a very efficient mod switching mechanism:
Proceed as above, but before saving your .cfg file, add the following:
Code:
Quote:
[features]
mod = mymodfolder
The mymodfolder is a placeholder for your personal mod folder, so say you have a mod called "Fishpants", then create a subfolder inside your MTW2 directory called "Fishpants", then add "mod = Fishpants" to your configuration file.
According to Epistolary Richard, a mod directory will require data/sounds/events.idx and data/sounds/events.dat, and I presume the campaign files, too, in order to work.
It should supercede any packed files, but that may actually only be the case after the unpacking tool has been released by CA.
Step-by-step guide on how to set up the mod switch feature:
1. Create a .bat file(make a .txt then rename the extension) in the Medieval II Total War folder with this line in it:
medieval2.exe @mymod.cfg
2. Copy and paste the medieval2.preference.cfg file, rename the copy to mymod.cfg, and add this to it:
[features]
mod = mymod
(it also helps to set this file to read-only as otherwsie the changes seem to be lost)
3. Create a new folder inside the Medieval II Total War folder called mymod. Then create a folder called data inside that.
4. Copy the world and sound folders from Medeival II Total War\data to Medeival II Total War\mymod\data.
5. Then place any modified text files in the mymod\data folder.
6. Run the game using the .bat file.
Hope this helps you guys.
Step by step guide how to create a new .bat file:
1) Click start, then click run and type "notepad" and press ok.
2) After notepad opens up, type what you want (medieval2.exe @mod.cfg) and click on file, save, and browse to where you want to save the file.
3) For the file name, type the name that you want to give it and be sure that you end it with .bat. Like for example, mymod.bat.
4 For the "save as type" option, be sure that you select "All Files" or the file will be saved as a text document.
5) Save your new batch file and close notepad. Now, to run the batch file, double click it like an .exe.
.cfg Variables
Bellow you'll find M2TW's .cfg file variables/parameters names. Most of them are already known (if you have a look at M2TW's original .cfg file), but there are a lot of hidden ones, with a few surprisez between them..
In order to use them, you'll have to make a backup copy of the original .cfg file (in case you mess anything), then a working copy (as the "unwelcomed" modifications you'll make will be deleted after you'll exit from the game).
A parameter's name is given in the <section_name>.<parameter_name> format, which means you'll have to add the <parameter_name = <value>> into the section_name .cfg's section (for example the misc.unlock_campaign parameter must be put in the .cfg file like this:
Quote:
[misc]
unlock_campaign = 1
if the section doesn't exists, just add it)

I think this is everything I can find at this hour. It's too late to can work over it anymore (past 3Am in here), but there are some interesting things which can be noted from them:
1) there seems that CA worked for a strategic map multiplayer hotseat mode of the game!!! the multiplayer.playable variable seems to be used to enable it (but it doesn't work atm), while multiplayer.hotseat_disable_papal_elections and multiplayer.hotseat_autoresolve_battles variables clearely point that there was (at least some) work done for a strategic map multiplayer hotseat mode

Re: Config File How To's
Add same for
label_settlements = 0 - disable info about settlements on strat map
show_tooltips = 0 - disable info about units in tactical battles
show_banners = 0 - disable flags and banners in tactical battles
ps recomend for atmosphere - F5 - F6 - F7 - disable radar/buttons/units cards )) (need minimal UI - enabled ) and ofcouse disable the green arrows ))

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
you may want to have a look at this http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=72180
which is a list with all .cfg variables from M2TW posted by me two weeks ago on .org...

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
-Disable Unit Info In Battles-
You can toggle this in-game during the battle by pressing Ctrl+F2. It works really nice. turn the info off for atmosphere and then turn it on really quick so you can see how your units are holding up.

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
Is it possible to enable hotseat campaigns for singleplayer?
I mean can you play 2 campaigns at once with the hotseat thingie
[multiplayer]
hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
hotseat_disable_console = 0
hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0
hotseat_save_prefs = 0
hotseat_update_ai_camera = 0
hotseat_validate_diplomacy = 1

Nope, unknown so far - and we only heard about the -ai switch because someone blabbed about it in an interview (and got berated over it) - I was the first to post about it on RTR forum back then :)
(tried a lot of alternative switches already, also stuff snooped from the .exe - no go, alas)

And what about that hot-seat mode?

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
you don't look like you've bothered to go to .org and take a look at what I've posted in there. so i'll copy/paste it in here for you :P
the variables are ALL the variables I've found digging through the M2TW exe's code. I don't think I've missed any of them.

When using the mod switch, there are no loading screens and no in-game videos. The first can be easily changed by copying, but has anyone an idea for the videos?

The loading screen folder is packed up so we'll have to wait for the unpacker. I'm just using some custom loading screens for now. About the videos, have you tried including the fmv folder? That's the one that contains all the videos.

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
One simple question. After starting the mod the dos windows pop up but it seems to be not longer necessary. Does somebody know an entry for the .bat that close the dos window again?

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
I am not following, I know it sounds dumb, but I am trying to get it to simply run in windows mode. Here is what I have now in the .bat file (btw, it works fine with nothing, or ignores what i have and works...)
tried
medieval2.exe @mymod.cfg
[video]
windowed = true
and
medieval2.exe @mymod.cfg
[video] windowed = true
and even
medieval2.exe @mymod.cfg [video] windowed = true
but the last bugs my game out and wont boot. No idea what I am doing wrong.
-
Re: M2TW Config File How To's
The [video] windowed = true should not be in the .bat file, i've got no idea where you are gettng that line from.

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
hey lusted can i place these anywhere in the medieval2.preference.cfg file?
[log] to = logs/system.log.txt level = * error
[log] to = logs/system.log.txt level = * trace

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
Fixed it. Thanks for your writeup Lusted. I had placed the new config file IN the new Mod folder, instead of the main MTWII folder. :D

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
How do I create a bat file?
Everytime I try to rename it, I just get test.bat.txt
It won't ever let me rename the extension part of it.
-
Re: M2TW Config File How To's
Not quite sure why my log isn't working. I copied your line exactly where it needed to go, and got the other things to work so I know I am doing it right. And with me crashing my game, I would love to know why. :-D

I'm going to presume that you're using windows.

If this doesn't work for some reason, try this:
Save it as a text file.
Open Tools/folder options on the top menu of your window
Click on the "view" tab
Find this option: "Hide extensions for known filetypes"
Uncheck the checkmark on the left to it.
Click "OK" and now all your files display various extentions, such as .txt or .exe etc.
Click on the text file you saved, RightClick and select "rename", remove the last part of "txt" and replace it with ".bat". once you finished editing you will have a confirmation pop up box coming up about "once you rename the extention..blah blah blah" , just click ok.
I also advise modders and modder-oriented people to enable the "known file extentions" to be viewed, It's just handy sometimes.

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
I have question about text files, when I make new folder with my mods I have to copy modiefied text files into data folder, is it necessary ? I ask because I use polish version of game, when I copy those files some descritpions in the game are in english and some in polish, for example: cities names, units descriptions are in english. I am not good in english and I would stay with full polish version. I am not sure if this problem depends from those files but when I removed them all texts were in polish again.
Thx
Thx

With the mod switcher, I think it's gone wrong for me, am I right in saying that there should be no videos on start up?
Here's a picture of the files and the dos prompt (It's abit small sorry) does it look right?

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
Hi there,
just a short question concerning cfg/game pref/game.english - I want to switch my German version to English language. Value of the line is set to 1 - no result - still German - values 0, 2, 3, etc.- the same result.
Is there any chance to switch the language or is the in-game language fixed by the localisation pack?
If yes - is there a chance to override the German localisation? Deleting the localisation pack?
Thanks in advance!

Instructions can be found a few posts above you in post #27 or #28.

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
Can anyone tell me why, after I put the logfile instructions into the config file exactly as posted here (copied and pasted, actually), I get an enourmous amount of errors when I view the logfile after a crash?
I can't pinpoint what actually caused the crash if there's so much other stuff in there. I will post the contents of it if need be.

Hi I have a little problem, I've changed some attack & defence points in the "export_descr_unit" file and tried to place it in mymod/data folder but nothing has changed ingame, what am I doing wrong??

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
Nevermind I got it to work!

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
I added this line into my preference text:
[log]
to = logs/system.log.txt level = * trace
Yet whenever my game crashes, no log is saved. How do I track errors more efficently?

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
Ok, so I did what was said to do here, and it worked, pre patch. With the patch added in, (I created a new mod folder to include all the unpacked files) it now blacks out after booting and CTD. I am not sure if we need to include more files or just the data folder to the mymod folder. I can run the game normally, but not the mod folder. I changed only the [feature] section and no more, yet boots up and CTD before any of the scenes. Any ideas?
-
Re: M2TW Config File How To's
I am having the exact same problem with as Sylesia, except i didnt try it pre patch. I have followed the instructions to the letter and it doesnt work.
I am currently copying the entire unpacked data folder into my mod in the hope that will work. It probably wont, but i have nothing better to do, or anything else to try. Plus i really hope we dont have to copy over everything each and every time we want to make a new mod!
Also, seeing as i have edited only one file (export_descr_units) why can i not edit the vanilla version of the game and have the changes happen? Surely doing that would be a heck load easier than making a new folder, copying files, making a mod switcher etc for one change on one unit in one file. Why does the game ignore these changes??? is there a way to make it not ignore those changes????
Basically is there a way for me to make some nice english cavalry?!?!
-
Re: M2TW Config File How To's
Ok, thats a problem. I got it to work by only having loading_screen, sounds, text and world in my data for mod. If you have everything, it goes boom.
-
Ok. i tried that, and it still CTD as soon as i start.
Alas, having the entire data folder copied didnt work either!

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
I made a .bat file named: "launch_mymod" and copied the .Cfg file and named it: "mymod" (not mymod.cfg), then made the "mymod" folder and inside it i copied the "world" and "sounds" folders then i made a "data" folder and a "text" folder in the "data" folder then i just filled the "text" folder with the right files and put the rest in the "data" folder then i got it to work.
P.S make sure to put the right files in the right folder and if it doesnt work try changing the letter size in the ".bat" and the ".cfg" file name slot so that they match. "launch_mymod", "mymod"
I think thats it

I totally don't understand. Could you use periods more often, perhaps? You're saying you put the "world" and "sounds" folders under mymod\ or under mymod\data\ ?
I got the game to run, but it's not using the files I wanted it to. I've replaced all of the files in the mymod\data\sounds folder, but it's still using the vanilla ones. Why? I also tried putting the "sounds" folder directly under the "mymod" folder, which is what I think stofe did, but then I got no sound at all.
-
Re: M2TW Config File How To's
Okay the folders should be placed as following: copy the "world" and "sounds" folders into the mymod/data folder, then create another folder in "mymod/data" named "text" and place the text files in it and the data files in the "data" folder and it should start.

Is possible a Multiplayer Campaign played on the SAME PC (hotseat). Here how enable it:

Question # 32 - How do I enable multiplayer hotseat campaign mode?
Answer #32 -
1. First, copy your medieval2.preference.cfg file to your desktop.
2. Rename the copy of the medieval2.preference.cfg file to multiplayer.cfg.
3. Now, make sure that the multiplayer.cfg file is not read only (right click on the file, and check the properties).
4. Open this new multiplayer.cfg file with Notepad or Wordpad, then add this to what is already in the multiplayer.cfg file:
[multiplayer]
playable = 1
hotseat_turns = 0
hotseat_scroll = 0
hotseat_update_ai_camera = 1
hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0
hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
hotseat_save_prefs = 1
hotseat_disable_console = 0
hotseat_validate_diplomacy = 1
5. Now save the multiplayer.cfg file and put it back on read only.
6. Move the multiplayer.cfg file into your C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War folder.
7. Now open up Notepad again. In an otherwise blank document, type this:
medieval2.exe @multiplayer.cfg
8. Save the Notepad document as Launch_Multiplayer.bat
9. Put this new Launch_Multiplayer.bat file in your C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War folder.
10. Now, if you want to, right click on the new .bat file and send it to the desktop (Create Shortcut).
11. When you want to play the multiplayer version of the game, double-click the .bat file. This will launch the game in multiplayer mode.
12. Once you are in the game, select multiplayer campaign.
13. Now, pick which factions you want to play. Just click on as many as you want. I am playing as all 17 playable factions now.
14. When you start the campaign, you will play each faction you have chosen in order. You can save and quit at any point and resume your game as you choose.

Specify please

According to Epistolary Richard, a mod directory will require data/sounds/events.idx and data/sounds/events.dat, and I presume the campaign files, too, in order to work.
I work with programming on a daily basis, and would really like get into modding M2TW. When working on any project, I like to have things nice and tidy.
Could you please specify the minimum required files for a mod using the mod switching feature to work so I get my mod "base structure" ready?
Thanks in advance,

1) World folder (you can find that in your Medieval II Total War\data folder)
2) Sounds folder with only audio.dat, audio.idx, events.dat, and events.idx.
Now, those are the two things you'll need in order for the mod switch to work. Don't forget that your mod folder has to replicate the M2TW directory in a way. Meaning that you'll need a new data folder in your mod folder and the world and sounds folder will go in there.
3) loading_screen folder. You don't need it to make the mod switch work but unless you don't care about seeing black loading screens while you're playing your mod, you'll want the loading_screen folder in there. You find that in your main data folder after you unpack the files.
4) fmv folder. Again, you don't need it but unless you don't care about seeing the in game videos/clips, you'll want that in your mod/data folder.

Heres a good one: Can we run the game in a window mode?
Is it possible to mod the game files to make the game in a window instead of encompassing the entire screen?
considering its graphic intensity, i doubt it, but i thought id ask because id love to play my own tunes through the computer while playing m2:tw.
-
Re: Heres a good one: Can we run the game in a window mode?
You can do this with all windows games, its just a matter of finding the command line.
-
Re: Heres a good one: Can we run the game in a window mode?
i think yes... the question is if ur comp can handle it... i can hardly run the game on defaults
-
Re: Heres a good one: Can we run the game in a window mode?
you can also alt-tab out of the game at any point too dont forget.
just alt tab to the desktop, play your music, alt tab back and continue playing the game leaving your music in the background. i do it all the time..
-
Re: Heres a good one: Can we run the game in a window mode?
yea in your cfg file put the command line
[video]
windowed = true
it helps especially if you're into modding any game files so you won't get the dreaded black screen and have to reboot your system. and whatever you have the game resolution set to, that's what the window size will be.
-
Re: Heres a good one: Can we run the game in a window mode?
Yeah, bdotward pretty much capitalized on that. I find it most useful for when you wish to put garrisons in your newly created settlements. You can get the coordinates of the settlement, then minimize the window and input the coordinates into the descr_strat.

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
Ok, so I am working on this, and I have added a few provinces. Added one first to make sure it worked, and it did, so added a couple at once. Checked all I could and see no issues... but when I go to game and tell it to start the camp, it goes back to the screen of which single player ways I want to play. Added the line to create logs, but no logs are created, any idea why?
The portion of my cfg is as follows
Quote:
tutorial_battle_played = 0
tutorial_path = norman_prologue/battle_of_hastings
unit_size = normal
unlimited_men_on_battlefield = 0
use_quickchat = 0
[log]
to = logs/system.log.txt level = * error
[multiplayer]
hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
hotseat_disable_console = 1
hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0
hotseat_save_prefs = 0
hotseat_update_ai_camera = 0
hotseat_validate_diplomacy = 1

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
I can't seem to make the text file and rename the file extension to .bat?
-
Re: M2TW Config File How To's
What you do is open up notepad, and write the line. Do save as, under file type, do all. Than save as mymod.bat
-
Re: M2TW Config File How To's
Sylesia,
I had the same problem and mine was a problem with using a upper case "P" in Province everywhere but in one place where I used a lower case "p" instead. Once I fixed that it worked fine. It looks to be case sensitive so check that.

Hot seat in unofficial patch 1.2
I used Hot Seat a lot when it was availeble in 1.1, and now that i got 1.2 i would like to play Hot Seat, how ever im having some trouble actually activating it.
Here i found a surgestion to how to activate it.
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=91876
But when i looked in my Medieval2.preference.cfg it looked like this:
[video]
widescreen=0
[game]
allusers=1
Wich is very unlike the big text filled file that i am used to from 1.1, i tried adding the surgested text to the file however it didn't work.
So i have a long line of questions
Is my Medieval2.preference.cfg supose to look like that?
What exsactly should i do to activate the Hot seat mode in 1.2?
And when i enter the game how can i start a Hot Seat game, is it like 1.1?
-
Re: Hot seat in unofficial patch 1.2
I just used the same .cfg file with hotseat code that worked for the previous version. It seemed fine. That is not working for you?
-
Re: Hot seat in unofficial patch 1.2
Well that depends what is that you were using last version.
I tryed with these two:
Quote:
[multiplayer]
playable = true
hotseat_turns = true
hotseat_scroll = false
hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
hotseat_disable_console = 0
hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0
hotseat_save_prefs = 0
hotseat_update_ai_camera = 0
hotseat_validate_diplomacy = 1
Quote:
[multiplayer]
playable = true
[hotseat]
autoresolve_battles = 0
disable_console = 1
disable_papal_elections = 0
save_prefs = 1
update_ai_camera = 0
validate_diplomacy = 1
None of them seemed to work. But how is hotseat in 1.2 is it the same way as in 1.1 where you just selected an extra faction or do you have to do something special?
-
Re: Hot seat in unofficial patch 1.2
This works for me. Dunno what could be wrong with yours.
[multiplayer]
playable = true
[hotseat]
autoresolve_battles = 0
disable_console = 0
disable_papal_elections = 0
save_prefs = 0
update_ai_camera = 0
validate_diplomacy = 1
-
Re: Hot seat in unofficial patch 1.2
Okay tried that with no effect, it also seems i cant access console, its like the game isn't even reading the file, anybody have some advice on how to fix this?
-
Re: Hot seat in unofficial patch 1.2
Try to change a setting in the game (with preferences.cfg unlocked), that should rewrite it. Then add your settings.
-
Re: Hot seat in unofficial patch 1.2
Okay tried that didn't to have any effect on the file but, there is a few things i would like to have cleared up:
By setting you mean any of those settings availeble i the option menu, like unit size and camera settings?
What do you mean by unlocked? Is this file locked by default or something? in that case how do you disable it?
-

I meant not read-only. If you can edit it, forget I mentioned it at all :laughter:

Re: M2TW Config File How To's
I know this sounds kinda noobdy but how do you change units stats?
I went to the export_ unit file and I changed the stats, and it doesnt work, however I can change the ammount of soldiers in a unit and it works, im really at a loss as what to do...
-
Hotseat feature?
how do you use this with the new patch?
-
Re: Hotseat feature?
You add/edit in something like this to your cfg file:
[multiplayer]
playable = 1
hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
hotseat_disable_console = 0
hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0
hotseat_save_prefs = 1
hotseat_update_ai_camera = 1
hotseat_validate_diplomacy = 1
New to the latest patch is password protection, so that you can (more safely) turn your back to your opponents. However, this may be annoying in a co-op style game where your friends may actually trust you to play for them.
-
Re: Hotseat feature?
so I make that change in that file and where do I go ingame and what do I do?
-
Re: Hotseat feature?
Another Q; what IS hotseat mode?
-
Re: Hotseat feature?
Conterintuitively enough, you do the Single-Player Grand Campaign. However, you may notice that when you click on a faction's coat of arms, you "turn on" that faction to be playable by human. You click on the coat of arms again to turn off human control for that faction. You'll see what I mean.
Hotseat mode means multiplayer Grand Campaign using one computer. Each player gets one faction. At the beginning, you set a password for your faction so that (hopefully) nobody else can make your decisions for you. I used to play hotseat mode with my friends all the time until we realized that the shield bug made it very hard to have any interesting battles.
-
Re: Hotseat feature?
I found hotseat the best cure against SANC (Start a New Campaign) Syndrome.
I started as England, took faction control of Egypt. When the Moors went down the tube, I took over and revived their empire and afterwards gave control back to the AI.
In between I took a glimpse on Hungary and Polands gameplay, while always focusing on Egypt and England.
Sometimes it is confusing to be at war with yourself, of finding yourself attacking a province that you basically own yourself with a different faction, but it is 2000x better than starting a new campaign every time I want to know what the unit rooster looks like.
Also diplomacy gets way better (harharhar!! )
In general funny to play. The only thing I did not find out so far was how to continue a battle (chasing down routers) after the "official" end of the battle, somehow it always ends and there is no option to go on.
-
hotseat mode
Sorted.
No reply required had to change the med2 preferences aswell
hi
i'm trying to use hotseat mode and also use the dev console to auto run a campaign. It keeps on coming up with the dev console as disable, which I can see when I'm typing in the password so hotseat mode is working. Even though in my config file hotseat_disable_console = 0 i.e. false - so it would be disabled.
am i missing something??
thanks in advance
by the way i'm using a mod config file to which I've added
[multiplayer]
playable = true
hotseat_turns = true
hotseat_scroll = false
hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
hotseat_disable_console = 0
hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0
hotseat_save_prefs = 0
hotseat_update_ai_camera = 0
hotseat_validate_diplomacy = 1

Re: hotseat mode
I'm not 100 % sure here but I think you have to do this:
[multiplayer]
playable = true
hotseat_turns = true
hotseat_scroll = true
hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
hotseat_disable_console = 0
hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0

Hot Seat
How is it like and how can I get it?
-
Re: Hot Seat
Cool.
and add this to your medieval2 preference file
[multiplayer]
playable = true
[hotseat]
autoresolve_battles = 1
disable_console = 1
disable_papal_elections = 0
save_prefs = 1
update_ai_camera = 0
validate_diplomacy = 1
turns = true
scroll = true
-
Re: Hot Seat
-
Re: Hot Seat
I don't know what is really different than the other one, but this one works for me.
[multiplayer]
playable = true
[hotseat]
autoresolve_battles = 0
disable_console = 0
disable_papal_elections = 0
save_prefs = 1
update_ai_camera = 0
validate_diplomacy = 1
If you use this, the console in the hotseat mode will be enabled so you can use cheat codes. If you use this with another player though, he will see the console is not disabled so he will suspect you're cheating in a hotseat game :P
